Scott Stevens. I believe it was his first full season with the team back when he was still considered an offensive defenseman.

It was his 3rd season in NJ. He put up 18G 60A (78 points) and was +53.

I knew it was Stevens but cheated because the only number I could remember was his +53. Looking back it is disappointing this organization doesn't seem to have room for him. He did fine work with NJ's D and Minnesota's and seems pretty capable.

I don’t know what specifically about this article did it, but you got me super excited for Zajacs return. I just hope he won’t slow things down too much.

What’s with the negative BS on Zacha. He’s Still so young, has a great shot and has great sense finding the open man for a pass. He’s got great size. He will be just fine.

Anyone still surprised how well Nico holding up on first line? Deboer never would have let that happen.

Yeah it would be nice to have him back as a coach. With Shero running the team now, and it's hard to criticize him right now, I don't think we'll see Stevens in the organization again for a while. Hell if Dano wasn't already the colour commentator we'd probably have a former penguin calling the games.

Couldn't agree more.

Zajac isn't as fast as the kids but he's a pretty good skater. I don't think it'll be a problem. Not exactly the same, but he was able to play with Kovy and Parise many years ago. Just hope they aren't rushing him back too soon. We'll see. And if it's not working Hynes will move things around.

Zacha is a little disappointing so far but I believe he will be a quality NHL player. Maybe at wing and not center. So people are a bit critical compared to where he was taken but he's not going to be another Tedenby or JJ.

Yes, I'm still surprised every game that Nico plays at how good he is and that he's surviving on the top line. I'm impressed the organization had the balls to forego the easy pick of Nolan Patrick to take this guy but clearly it was a great decision. At 18 he's going to get better.

Pretty good player who put up some good points. 9G - 13A in 34 games for the Rockies and 7G - 40A in 73 games for the Devils in 81-82 and 82-83.

Wore #8 just like Will Butcher!

And then he disappeared. Whatever happened to him anyway?

Went back to playing in Finland where he put up monster numbers against weaker completion. No idea why he left the NHL so quickly. Only remembered his name because it was unusual and when you're a kid those things are interesting.

Really hope this doesn't mean Ek is auditioning new writers for the Devs blog. For my money TC is easily the best writer on the site and covers the team better than anyone.

The way Butcher QB's the PP and dishes the puck I feel like him getting 82 pts (1 per game) is so doable. Prob won't happen but he makes it looks so easy.

He's currently got 13Pts in 17 games so probably not. But he's doing great. Ironically Kerfoot seems surprisingly good too.

Well at least Butcher got his first NHL goal today. Though not a good showing in the Peg after epic win....
