I missed the game last night, but have seen every other game so far this season. So, two thoughts.....
1) Phil and Malkin should stay together for the foreseeable future.
2) put Crosby and Guentzel back together and let them figure it out. Once they're back on the same line, NEVER separate them again. |

It's a long season, this team has played a lot of hockey over the past few years, so I get coasting for awhile. It predominantly shows in their even strength effort. It seems they're trying to score and win on the power play. AT some point some fresh legs from Wilkes would be a good thing. Again, the season is long and the schedule makers didnt do them any favors. Hate to see this team giving up the third point. Eventually, if this continues, it could burn them.

As the resident blogger, Wilson, I dare you to write an article purporting Kris Letang's play as being an elite defense man so far this season. Please provide any and all graphical evidence that you can muster together. We're about twenty games in, and he simply doesn't pass the smell test. Wait, the eye test, AKA the coveted plus/minus metric. "Elite" shouldn't be dead last in the league at -16. He was in the same decile with M. Johnson, so one could argue it's seasonality. Correct me if I'm wrong, but theoretically, isn't his brand speciality his efficiency to generate controlled zone exits? So if he's effective at doing his #1 job, then how does that equate to -16, eh?
Also, dude needs to be removed from first power play unit. He shouldn't automatically be given that job back. Schultzie earned the role this past spring. Letang doesnt understand the role anyways. Pass, pass, pass, bad pass, turn over, shot blasted into defenders shin pads. Least Schultz has ability to get the puck through AND on net. Anyways, this team has recently proven they can win without him. Triple dog dare you. |

He definitely has been bad so far. Not worthy of 1st PP at this point. Two separate penalties on the same play resulting in the 4 minute PP for the Caps which they put on the back of the net. I don't have a good feeling about tonights outcome. |

It must be frustrating for the top players to see the good players leave and realize the team has been taken down a notch. Looks like it's going to be a long season. I know things can change but you can sense the disconnect from the players. Things just ain't the same. |

Letang has been terrible, that's for sure, but this type of hate is amazing. Now, I get Maatta is having a good season, but he's been terrible for TWO FULL years and many people kept giving him slack.
Letang hasn't played since the middle of last season with a pretty serious injury. It's gonna take Letang some time to get back to his normal level of play. Patience... |

Yep. I'm confident Letang will get his sh*t together. It would be nice if it happened soon. |

Sounds like we're going to need another 2 goals at least by the way the Preds have been buzzing around. I hope it's not going to be another game where we just try & hang the (frank) on!!
