Dan Wallace: Parise to Have Back Surgery

I didn't think that his contract would start to suck as soon as it has. We've gotten great mileage out of Suter so far, but Parise is starting to really hurt this team.

Does he go on injured reserve now and free up some cap space?

Well, this should have been done in the pre-season, if not a year and a half ago. Even if the surgery is non-invasive, the Wild better find the greatest flak jacket in the world for Parise if his career is going to continue at all. When your game is predicated on taking cross checks to the back to stay in position for dirty goals, and you aren't a very big player, back surgery does not help.

Possibly one of the worst Wild games I've been a witness to in a very long time... Going to go out on a limb and say that this team will not make the playoffs this season.

Agreed. Granted, they haven't had a full team yet, and won't for quite a while, this season is starting to really look bad. Staal and Koivu have looked SLOW. Even Cullen appears to not be playing at his best. At least defensively the Wild appeared to getting back on the right track. It's still early enough in the season for things to get righted, but it is pretty difficult to find any positives so far.

Yeah, I've been trying not to pick apart Cullens game because he's been stuck on the 4th line with the kids, but he doesn't look at all like the player he was over the last 2 seasons with the Pens... granted talent level of his linemates have changed drastically.
