I love Kane, but he'll probably be hurt by game 10. |

A signed Kane may get you a top 4 defence man.
Current state Kane will not, unless said defence man is also playing on an expiring contract.
Kane's greatest value to Buffalo is signed long term, or flipped as a rental to a contender at the deadline. |

"Another factor for Botterill to consider is the eventual fate of fellow Craig Oester client Samson Reinhart, who will also become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2018."
Flat out wrong, not that the author would know the difference or care. |

Ok.... Where to begin? How about with "Ryan Johansen is a top line CENTER!". The value of a center vs a talented, yet troubled, winger are two different things. Find a winger with a similar past and production like, maybe, Oshie? 8 years 46 million seems to be a good starting point.
Plus, Boterrill WILL NOT kill his team with bad cap management. Signing Kane to 8 years is bad cap management. He'll get a James Neal type offer of 5 years 5.5-6.5 mil a year from Buffalo. Or, better yet, trade him before he breaks down or stops caring like every other year.

Oh, and players get over/under hyped every year within the first month. I remember two years ago when Crosby was washed up....two Stanley cups later that's a distant memory. I also remember in 2012 when Niemi looked like a favorite to when the Vezina at the end of October.
At the end of the year Kane will be Kane, McDavid will be McDavid, Ovechkin will score at least 100 goals (50 most likely), and Vegas will be one of the worst teams in hockey. |

Well, look who's employing him.... same guy who claims to have sources in every corner of the universe yet couldn't get a trade or personnel move right even after it happened... |
