Oilers have a big, strong team, so I think Manning should be in the lineup. Say what you will about him, but at least he's not afraid to play the body and try to win the one-on-one battles. It wouldn't hurt anything to sit AMac for a game.
I'm not even concerned about the entire Manning vs McDavid drama. That's over. I just think Manning's more physical play could be used against a big team like the Oilers. |

You should watch Sanheim play, not saying he is a physical force, but he holds his own. Always seems to be in scrums (preseason and regular) and has much better size than Manning. |

Martel: 6 games, 7 goals, 10 points and a scrappy bugger too. Nope couldn't possibly succeed for a game or 2 in the NHL.
Re tonight's D: Absolutely no reason to dress Manning, none. Go with your best 6, and that rules out Manning.
A game like tonight against a player like McDavid is why I'd like to see Gudas paired with Provorov. Anything that might throw him off his game, like wondering if Gudas is about to nail him, even in the slightest, is a good thing.

Also, the key to winning tonight IMO, is to forecheck the hell out of the Oilers. The more you force Edmonton to play in their own end, the more likely you'll come away with 2 points. |

Curious to see if Edmonton bullies the Flyers a bit. Edmonton has some big boys (Lucic, Maroon, Kassian) and the Flyers truly have no one besides Simmonds who can legitimately step up. There is Gudas, but he is more of a Ulf or Kasparatis type, far from a fighter. |

No way. Sanheim played too well last game to take him out of the lineup. We can use his speed and puck skills. Manning should remain the 7th defenseman for the rest of the season. |

McDavid is arguably the best player in the league. I don't see the threat of being hit throwing him off his game.

Agreed, you dress your best line up. Sanheim's skating is a better asset to use against McDavid then Manning's "physicality".

I would assume the Flyers would be on the PP half the afternoon...unless we get the same officiating from last game. |

I can only hope Edmonton strategy is to try and bully us instead of using their speed. If I remember maroon had 3 bad dumb minors plus a fight vs us the one game. I would love to disrupt the mcdavid line for 11 minutes again |

Sorry, I meant to put Manning in the lineup instead of AMac. I would try:
Provy-Sanheim
Ghost-Hagg
Manning-Gudas
I think Provy and Sanheim could be a nice combo. It comes down to whether you would rather have AMac or Manning in the lineup, and I think Manning's style of D fits this team better than MacDonald's. |

Not going to happen. MacDonald has been playing on the top pair all of last season and so far this season for a reason. MacDonald is a much better player than Manning is.

The challenge has been a travesty to the game to begin with, and this year rule is even worse. - missingmike
as a person who was a fan to see the Leon Stickle non offside call not to mention the high stick goal in the game, I am all for getting it right. Not sure why they have to make it so confusing tho. I mean, offside is offside. |

It will be interesting to see if the Flyers use the same "follow him to the bench" defensively strategy against McDavid that worked on Ovechkin.
Sanheim was way too good vs NSH to sit him again. |
