I think they need to get Janko up now, he would help solidify the 3rd line or even if they put him on the fourth line it would help add skill. The fourth line is garbage and plays in their own zone all game.

Its a kick in the D to Janko having him playing in the AHL after his preseason.

Bartman has gotta be out, you're absolutely right. Kulak can only be an upgrade. Hell, bring up Rass! He would look great beside stone

Tkachuk has been one of our best players, he better not lose ice time. GG needs to take his blinders off and bench Bennett. Can someone tell me why Bart is still in the lineup every night? The fact he is continually dressing every game is BLASPHEMY

Last year Chiasson was still taking up space on the top line i think until the 20 game mark and by this point I think we still had Grossman playing. All with a worse record.

It would seem GG gives people a lot more time to fail then we do.

I have been an advocate of keeping Bennett as a centre. When i see him with better players (Ferland & Gaudreau) he is a better player & shows his potential. Then boom he gets stuck on the fcking 3rd line & he starts to perform as a 3rd liner. I am now ready to agree that we need to bring Janko up & put him on that 3rd line & initially try Bennett on the wing & Versteeg or Ferland on the other side. Stajan needs to move to press box & put Lazar with Brouwer & Versteeg or Ferland on the 4th line.
& for fck sakes put Kulak in the line up instead of fcking Bart.

"I'm not saying Brett Kulak is perfect -- he is far from it -- but at what point is he going to be given a shot "

At what point do any young guys get a chance on this team ? I thought we got rid of the country club. Way too many vets are being given way too many chances.

Clearly GG doesn't think anybody in the system is better than Bart for the #6 D spot 🤦‍♂️.

So all the talk of our promising up and coming young defencemen is clearly just speculation and lies..

Seems like 2 different teams right now. Some nights they pot 5-6 goals other nights can't get out of our zone. We were awfully close to giving up another shutout last night, which would have made it 3 in 7 games. In the 3 games we lost have been outscored 11-1 (obviously half of those goals coming from 1 game looks bad).

Mike Smith has been the savior of the season so far. This team has a lot of work to do. Not sure Janko or Kulak would the help win those 3 lost games, but it would help.

I think an injection of youth would be a good thing.

That's what I was thinking too. 3rd line
Bennett-Janko-Versteeg

Speaking of which, sure glad Versteeg's ok. Knee injury looked nasty and then took a slap shot off the helmet which broke it while he was rolling around in agony from that little b1tch Jeff Skinner.

I seem to be in panic mode today because my hockey pool teams are sucking as well

But I was thinking, Montreal are desperate for a centre & really down on Galchenyuk. What if we were to do a deal like Bennett & Brouwer to them for Galchenyuk & their 2018 1st & 2019 2nd? Brouwer & Galchenyuk contracts pretty well wash out. Is Bergevin desperate enough to roll the dice. With Janko really ready for 3rd line duty & extending Backlund seems to be the right thing to do, this could be an interesting deal. Please talk me out of this funk

I have always been on the "have patience" bandwagon with Bennett, but it is really starting to get ridiculous. He needs to do something. It is not only about "who he plays with" as we always seem to talk about - he has his own skill set but it is never on display and he should not require other skill players to start showing some of his skill set. This is a tough one - I would hate to give up on him and have that come back to bite us - but at the same time maybe we need to move him while we can still get a decent return.

As far as the trade suggested, the Habs would not go for it - they are giving up too much. I can see Bennett & Brouwer for Galchenyuk and a 2nd. We are paying to make them take Brouwer's contract. I would be tempted but really I think I would wait til mid season to see if Bennett's game can come around. If it doesn't, put out the word that he could be available & see what others offer for him.

Galchenyuk has proven more potential than Bennett has thus far in their careers so I don't see how they'd even consider this deal.

I was all for trading Bennett last year when I thought he was gonna make 2.5-3 but with the contract he has and the energy he brings I say we ride out the 2 years at the least.

He's a fan favourite and still only 21 (as annoying as that excuse is getting). Get him some steady linemates and crack down on his bad penalties and he'll turn it around sooner or later

Why would the Canadiens ever even consider that? Galchenyuk has way more value than Bennett at this point and Brouwer has negative value, yet you still want them to add a 1st and 2nd round pick? Even if Calgary was the team adding their nonexistent 1st and 2nd round picks, I doubt Montreal would do that. Stop suggesting video game trades.

Kevin. Its Friday and you need a drink.

Patience. Bennett is in a funk but we have not tried him out at wing. Its still early and I believe when the floodgates open for the kid he will produce. No need to sell low on a guy like Galchenyuk.

Brouwer will be gone next year and pretty sure Montreal wants that cap space for Tavares anyways.

I think the Flames like Bartman because of his wheels, but that doesn't matter when most other aspects of his game are crap. Time for someone else in 6D. Bennett continues to struggle at center and take dumb penalties because of it. Janko is the perfect remedy for Bennett at wing. Also, I am not really pumped about our bottom 6 right now-- they aren't adding much at all-- 7pts in 6 games for 7 players. I'd rather see Lazar or Hathaway in and Glass & Brouwer(already -4) out.

I see you just can't help it eh? First off, Galchenyuk has totally lost his confidence & you would be gambling big time that a change of scenery will do him good. Right now I wouldn't go anywhere near Galchenyuk for Bennett 1 for 1 with a 10' pole. Sorry , we big time disagree which is not unusual for you, not many agree with your drivel anyway. Montreal may consider a bad second part of the deal because they are in a world of hurt right now, we aren't, looking at records will confirm that. Maybe adding the 2nd in pushing it but I wouldn't do that without their 1st end of story & that's not video games son.

I guess you didn't watch the Flames last year or the first seven games of this season. There's no possible way to twist it that Bennett has more value in a trade than Galchenyuk. On top of that, you seem to think Brouwer has trade value.

How exactly is Bergevin supposed to sell a trade that brings in one of the worst contracts in the league and a player who's been slumping for a over a year. Even if they get rid of all the draft picks, it's an awful trade for them.

If you see Galchenyuk as a major downgrade from Bennett anyway, why even suggest the trade?

Gotta say, my patience with Bennett is really starting to run out.

I still say we should bring Janko up and move Bennett to wing. Hopefully in an easier position he won't take as many dumb penalties. But man, that kid has got to start doing something other than leaving the team short-handed.

Let's try him on wing and see if that helps. If not, might be time to get him outta here.
