Carol Schram: Anders Nilsson shuts out Senators 3-0 in first game with Vancouver Canucks The new line of Baertschi-Burmistrov-Boeser clicked twice and Anders Nilsson delivered a shutout in his first regular-season appearance with the Vancouver Canucks as the team kicked off its five-game road trip with a 3-0 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.

I'd like to see more of this Nilsson kid, never really thought much of him when he was in Edmonton but by all accounts he played well in Buffalo last year.

I'd like to see them get strings of starts, 2-3 for each change. I felt it was tough on Markstrom to prove himself once every couple weeks, and given there is no #1 in town, I think they should be given a few in a row unless one has a truly poor performance

Boeser kinda reminds me of Rod Brind'Amour when I played against him in that Brindy was never the fastest guy out there, he was just good at thinking the game, positionally sound with his awareness of where the puck will or should go.

Boeser has those same abilities, it would seem. Good thing Greener stratched him of for the first two games or they might have won both of them

I liked him when he was with us. I just don't know that he is the type of guy that can be consistent for a whole year. Might just need help with the mental part to get over it though

Yes it'd be nice to see a run of a few games now to see how they play off of each other, Nilsson probably deserves another start against Boston but coach Green may want Marky back in there to get some confidence.

Thanks Carol.

Great win by the canucks and all that but being a music aficionado, we really want to know your opinion on Trooper's place in Canada's rock pantheon.

@Lefty - I remember hearing stories about Rod and his insane workout ethic. They had to lock him out of the gym apparently .

Just noticed Kane is having a really good year. What a coincidence it is in his contract year.

Because his best season of his career was 6 years ago which was also his contract year.

I watched this game.

Canucks did a good job. The young players were doing a pretty good job. Nilsson played great and got tested early.

The D was much better than I anticipated.

My prediction before the game was accurate as far as the number of Canucks goals was concerned.

I just got the Sens total wrong...

Ya there wasn't much going on at Athol Murray when he was there, his mindset was no one is gonna outwork him.

Very impressive win!...team much more structured under green..Bo looking great! And Nilsson has the size and mobility of today's prototypical goaltender. .maybe give him the run of the net?..best of luck moving forward!

Almost everyone thinks they're going to start Nilsson, eh?

I'm not so sure. If they started Nilsson, it's basically telling Markstrom that he's lost the starter's job. All of 5 games into the season.

Also, it goes against the last 30 years of Canucks' history, where the guy with the bigger contract gets every single opportunity, even though the guy with the smaller contract is outplaying him (ie. Boeser getting sent down this year, Stecher last year, Schneider riding the pine, etc...).

Sign him and he will coast until his contract year, sounds like he has a Russian for an agent.
