Welcome back Adam!

The only reason I hope Brown continues with his point production is because he's in my hockey pool lol, otherwise I don't like the Kings.

I think it's time for the Sharks to start looking past Pavelski as well, isn't he 33 years old now?

Welcome home Adam...
Brown - I've been a DB basher for years. After 2012 he forgot that he was a physical player and fancied himself a puck handler. I've taken a lot of poop from other fans who always defended his game by pointing to the points he used to put up, but that defense dried up years ago. I've said it a million times, he's as automatic turnover, the puck and his stick react to each other like two similar poles of a magnet. This led me to really start to loathe him when he was on the top line with Kopi; instead of giving it up to Kopi at the red line, he'd take it in himself and then proceed to lose possession. Over and over again this happened. Kopi became the one to go to the net instead of the "power forward" who was making his one signature pull-and-lose move at the half wall. To top it off he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with his shot. It's no wonder Kopi's 200 foot game is strong because he would always have to be chasing the plays when a) DB turned it over at the circles or b) DB would shoot it so wildly that the puck would careen off the boards and be out at center ice going the other way on a break because the forwards were caught deep. I wished Brown would just quit. And then this year has started. He is now doing what he was reluctant to do in the past: GET TO THE FRONT OF THE NET. He's taking the punishment that is necessary to get goals by someone of his skill set. He wouldn't do this in years past. maybe he thought it was above his game to take that punishment shift after shift? Don't get me wrong, he is still a puck handling nightmare, but at least he's understanding his role and sticking to game plan. I picked him up on my FL team a few games into the season because it seemed Stevens was going to play him in all situations so his TOI was high, and he's back to hitting, and he's always gotten of 3 or more shots/game, and he's now getting to the front of the net and get the greasy goals. I hope he keeps it up and makes the cap hit at least tolerable until 2022. GKG!

Hey Adam, and welcome, I am going to try not to seem like an a-hole here because the bottom line is I am just glad to have a blogger. If I had my druthers, it would be someone more connected to So Cal and a bit more savvy about the team and our state, but like my mom always said, "wish in one hand and poop in the other, see which one fills up the fastest"

You're not the only one I would say this to, other writers here are guilty as hell, but damn, you go to school for journalism? and writing? proof read, check your tenses and your sentence structure!

I am totally kidding ya.... I know you gotta fart these things out amongst a myriad of other things you got going on.

I look forward you to catching stride and being more than a blogger who watches highlights and posts write ups, whose knowledge of the organization goes deeper than stuff you can read in an old game program or are regurgitated from other writers and personalities that know little about our team and our state. Peng was real good about breaking down plays and team dynamics, evaluating players and general analysis. I hope we get more of that, all 7 of our commenter's will appreciate it!

Can't say I didn't think both these things as well. Not to be that guy, but proper grammar and verb tense makes any argument more compelling.
I'm not saying I will be holding this against you, but you have been assigned to write about the Kings rather than getting the chance to write about the team you're a fan of, correct? Only saying that to say this, we're *typically* a smaller but knowledgeable fan base, be open to learning from your readers. We know the Brown struggles, we know the last few years have been disappointing, we know Doughty's pending contract situation, etc. I hope that you can bring some new angles and insights that further our knowledge or provoke new conversations.

Welcome Adam, Glad to have a writer for the Kings.

I for one have been very critical of Brown and hoping for a buyout. But last year Brown really showed something. He showed something is changing mentally and perhaps its turning around. Currently he doesn't seem like age or his style of play have really effected him. He just has something mentally going on that was effecting his game. This year he looks like a 20 yr old Brown. Good thing are the goals are coming from him just being in the dirty areas and thats good.

Look forward to the future write ups.

Pretty much this.

I would love to see the Kings sell high on Brown and maybe only give up a 2nd instead of a 1st (or more) to dump his salary and dreadful term, but that's unlikely. If he can cut down on the turnovers, carry the puck less, minimize retaliatory penalties, reduce the out-of-the-play hits that do little, and produce ~40-50 pts/year, then that would somewhat mitigate the effects of that awful contract.

Unsubstantiated rumor going around, very unsubstantiated, but what I read was "Muzzin and Martinez on the trading block for a top 6 forward" this feels kind of old to me, I mean, we have been saying that since before fee agency.

I see a headline to a post in our future: "Muzzin and Martinez for JVR (e4)".

If by unsubstantiated, you mean TSN and LAKingsInsider, then yes, it's unsubstantiated.

Oh. Yeah I didn’t see this article.
Dennis Bernstein of TFP has also mention the 2 could be on the trade block but I doubt LA does anything drastic yet. It’s too early. Deadline, very possibly.
On another note Jon Hoven gave a 75% chance we see voynov in the future and I’ll say I wouldn’t mind having that POS back if it means a Cup 😬

Thank you all for your words of welcome. From all the years I have been buzzing around HB, the one thing I can tell you is that this is more of a community than a readership. That's why I want to be as interactive as possible.

As far as my not being connected to the Kings right now, you're right in a way. However, this is going to grow with time as I dive into everything Kings. I plan on talking to past Kings bloggers to get a sense of what you guys like and I'm obviously going to be watching with you.

I can't sit here and say I grew up a Kings fan because I didn't. With that said I had no preference which team I got because either I would get to help grow a fan base or interact with very knowledgeable fans. Like I said, I'm really happy it's the Kings because I know there is a strong fan base, great content this year and beyond, and the Kings have a strong effect on the NHL on and off the ice.

The key is I'm treating this like a job. I'm going to try and bring you the best content I can provide whether it be interviews from former or current players and management, a game review, or just my own opinion.

There will be growing pains and some of those things will take some time but I don't plan on going anywhere.

As for my grammar/tenses and all that. It's been a major hiccup for me at school as well as here. Again it will get better over time as I'm going to have more time to prepare articles but I apologize in advance if I make a mistake.

Again feel free to give me your thoughts and candor and have fun reading.

Honestly I think the big thing with Brown was less losing the room, and lets face it 99.9% of us will never know what happens behind the closed doors, but moving the C off his chest took a LOT of pressure off him.

Brown is back to getting in front of the net and making life difficult. He is opening ice and screening goalies and getting his goals the dirty way, which is the type of game he got away from be it grind on the body or overthinking things or whatever. Not sure the "need for more offence" didn't play a factor and get in his head some but....

With him back on his game, the results are starting to show this season and the Kings have not looked bad at all. They have gotten faster with an influx of younger players, and are still strong, physical, and have Quick behind them.

So far this season the big thing is to watch the turnovers and play under control. Doughty let his emotions get the better of him two games ago, but redeemed himself last game. The turnovers come from their long bomb breakout strategy which teams are figuring out and they are going to have to watch that going forward.

Kings may be off to a 4-0 start here but Montreal has come out faster and are so far really keeping the Kings from getting their game going in the early 5 min here.

And there it is 1-0 Montreal. Montreal is faster, and Kings are getting some ok one off chances on Montoya but little net presence and not really able to play that heavy grinding board game with the Habs moving the puck well and getting out of their own zone especially very fast.
