Looks like we will see Nuevirth against Nashville. Smart move considering last week. Hope Sanheim gets back in as well.

Bill i know it's still early but i can't help but think that by having Sanheim sitting all these games, its very detrimental to his growth, as opposed to him playing in all situations and big minutes in LV?

I certainly don't want him sitting endlessly but I don't think a few games hurts his further development.

TIL: Bob Boughner is the coach of the Florida Panthers. I vaguely knew he had been coaching in the CHL at some point, but I missed the memo where he got the Florida gig.

So where is the platoon situation that Mason didn't want any part of? I'd prefer to see Mase getting these starts. They are forcing Elliott on us like Reader for so long. Lets get Neuvy in net please.

They just won 8-2.

Lots of coaches come back with the same lineup.

Give it time. lots of season left. And really i don't give a (frank) who plays as long as they get w's

Standout young two-way defenseman Aaron Ekblad has scored goals in back-to-back games.

I agree it won't hurt but I fail to see where it will help. Plus, there is no way Manning is better, don't get me wrong, he is a great 7th D. He had a rough game against the capitals, out of position and very clumsy with the puck. I do get it was his first game in a while. Add in, the Panthers are a fast team, play the kid

It is decisions like this that make the fan base question the coaching, rightfully so.

I agree the style that the Panthers play is a good reason to play Sanheim but I would disagree that Manning had a rough game against the Caps. The fan base questioned the coaching before the Caps game. They won 8-2.

I agree to an extent. Although they won the Caps game, I felt that Manning was not overly effective and was not instrumental in the win. There is no facet to his game that stands out so much as to make him a better player than Travis Sanheim at present moment. I'm not gonna flip over Sanheim sitting a game here and there, but sitting him in almost half of the games in favor of Brandon Manning makes no sense to me.

Gee, thanks to the geniuses who create the NHL schedule I almost forgot there was a hockey team in the Philadelphia area.

Since he missed a lot of last season due to injuries, I think the Flyers should limit Nolan Patrick's minutes (6-7 per night) and only let him play maybe 1/3 of the games this season.

Manning was way out of position on the 1 goal the CAPs scored. He fumbled the puck a couple times and he passes were off. Add in, Gudas just inst playing well.

This season has so far been a nightmare for me from a viewing standpoint. I have not been able to sit down and watch one full game yet. And I will miss tonight's game as well.

No one player, besides the goalie on occasion, is ever the sole reason that a goal is scored. It's usually a series of coverage breakdowns or lack of pressure applied. On the first goal, Manning wasn't the sole culprit, but does bear responsibility.

However, Giroux and Voracek also share blame. However, they absolutely dominated the game offensively. So while you can't absolve them for lack of defensive detail, you can easily live with it given their play on the other end of the puck. Manning, on the other hand, while he did register an assist, did not have the same effect, and was at best marginal defensively. Add in a number of times where he seemed to have severe issues handling and moving pucks without pressure, and I don't see how he deserves to start tonight over Sanheim.

Well, the Sixers are the young darlings of the city. If they deemed that their All-Star caliber young centerpiece should play less than 20 minutes per night and only play select games, seems like the Flyers should follow suit with theirs.

I totally disagree. I think the organ-eye-zation should simply store him in bubble wrap and break him out at the start of the celebratory Stanley Cup Parade.

if Sanheim is going to continue to sit he should be sent down and either call up a veteran like Alt to sit or just go with 6 for the home stand. the kid needs to play.

I like Manning. i have always been one of the people on here defending him. he has worked hard to make himself a NHL player with limited abilities. Perfect #7 who can fill in. But I still will never agree Sanheim or Morin should be sitting for him. I get a coach needing to trust a player and that trust needs to be earned but you also have to let a kid play and work through mistakes. If a player continues to make the same mistakes and doesn't improve then fine, send him down.
