I'm not even a big Ceci fan but he's been playing well the last few games

Chabot just keeps looking better to me

That Hoffman shot on his goal was amazing

So far my biggest shock to the season so far is still Ryan, I can't get over how much smoother and faster he is skating.

Looking forward to seeing how well we can do against the Oilers, I think they are a much better team than their early record shows and much harder than Calgary

It is notable that Chabot was fourth in ice time on the blue line and played over 15 minutes,

Could this be explained by the insane amount of Penalties given out to the flames?

Either way, lets hope they keep it up. Tough game tonight.

I believe the Sens of the playoff run last spring are the real Sens. Earlier in the year they were learning a new system and coping with lots of injuries as they headed down the stretch.

This year they start off understanding the system. Bobby Ryan is playing very well and Dion Phaneuf needs to be recognized for leadership he has provided with Karlsson on the mend.

This is a good team as it was last year.

The secret ingredient to this team is the way Boucher has them use their speed. They are faster than just about every other team but their style masks the depth of their speed. When guys like Turris, Hoffman and Dzingle take off from a counter attacking defensive position it often causes the other team to get trapped out of position as it did with Calgary last night. The Ceci goal was a perfect example of a team using speed to flood the offensive zone and not allow for the other team to pick up their defensive assignments.

It was a great game and hopeful of a very good season.

I said before and I will say again. There is a silver lining to the Karlsson rehab time. The team is developing more depth. Karlsson is getting some extra rest after a long playoff run. The Hockey Gods are smiling on us this morning.

More of this please. If we get this many powerplays every game Karlsson will run over 1:1

Multiple sources saying Draisaitl will not play tonight due to an eye injury.

That's unfortunate.

Sens do have an opportunity here though, Oilers seem to be working out some kinks in their game, and losing such a great player doesn't help.

Agreed. He made some big strides last season. Not sure how long he is out for though. Hopefully it isn't anything major. But as you said, Ottawa has an opportunity with his absence. The question is how do we slow McDavid down without Karlsson?

It's especially impressive that despite using 9 different d-men in the first 4 games, they've yet to lose a game in regulation. Factor in that none of those 9 are named Karlsson, and Boucher deserves a huge amount of credit for the adaptability of his system. I think this is also an indication of why he and Dorion continually focus on adding affordable but effective depth to the team, because it supports the 'next man up' mindset.

Full marks also have to go to Ceci, Phaneuf, and Claesson for leading the way on the blue line... I'm sure many people expected the team to be in shambles without Karlsson or Methot in the lineup, and instead Anderson has started the year with a 1.65GAA and 0.937sv%.

So before last game I predicted a 7-1 Flames win. I had the wrong team, but at least I was right on the 6 goal spread... I think I'll sit this one out in regard to a prediction. :s

Whoooooa!!! Slow down, Jimmy. I don't know about that. I don't even think I'd put us in the top ten in terms of speed. Yes, Karlsson, Hoff, Dzingel, among others, are very fast skaters. But as a team overall, there are many teams much faster than us.

^ This, but the team buying into solid defensive structure fills in the gaps when they can't compete with speed. Defense also does a great job at letting Andy play to his strengths and they have confidence in him which only helps his game. Guy only gets better with every save he makes, gotta love Andy, character guy. Good start to the season and knowing that karlsson should be returning shortly only makes it sweeter for sure.

That second goal by Hoffman, really reminded me of the old curl, drag and snap it that Yashin used to do

Sick win, sick roadtrip.

Going 3-0 on a western canada roadtrip would be sick WITH Karlsson.

absolutely...

The Sens WITH Karlsson - and a line where Brassard-Ryan are actually clicking - they got to go out and get a Duchene

1) what does this team need to be a contender?
2) what is the most REALISTIC way they address this?
