Nieme has been screwed in both games he's played by spotty ass defensive play.
It's like they know he's in net so they don't do ANYTHING to protect him?
The whole defensive mindedness of the entire team plays like ass on the back end of a double header.

If it weren't for the Chicago game a few days ago, I don't think we'd have made too much of a terrible showing in a back to back road trip. So far this year we've had three good games and two awful ones. The potential's there, we just need to improve the fourth line and settle down.

I'm a little alarmed by how "gassed" the stars looked. I know it's back to back, but it's way early in the season and they have 17 more of those to come. Sullivan has to come to his senses sooner than later with the 4th line.

Is Niemi more Average than Fleury? You bashed on him the last two years so I was just wondering. Fleury blows, his "even strength save percentage and corsi" screwed this team for far too long ferda. I think Murray is Awesome but you really hated Fleury for the wrong reasons man. Robin Lehner, Roberto Luongo, Ryan Miller, Ben Bishop, Carey Price, Henrik Lundqvist and Mike Smith would be much better options as starters since they've all accomplished so much. Not saying we shoulda kept Fleury, but you acted like he was garbage the whole time and I'm not the biggest Fleury fan, but I'm glad he's finally proving you wrong. Love your stuff tho bud, I'll keep reading.

It is early yet....wait til the novelty of Vegas and you will see the real MAF. Remember they played twice against the Coyotes and they suck and Dallas and they suck.

I feel like that is an effect of not having as much depth as they have the past few years.

Man niemi is ass, what a terrible schedule to start doesnt make much sense to me to play in tampa then come home to play florida. Why not just play them there. Murray has looked loud lately as well i like quite muuray who hardly has to move.

I get the feeling Vasi might have won that game for the Bolts.

Well the Pens keep on keeping on at around the .500 mark, will that be enough moving forward - no! They may be after another Dman before trading for a 3C.

Trust me. The fourth line is a much bigger issue than the D corp if Sullivan would make the right personnel decisions on the blue line. It's imperative to get a 3C to fix the fourth line.

The result appears to support my comment. I may be wrong - there may be analytical data that says the Caps should have beaten us last season, but it appears we have the Cup.

I may be naive, but if we can get 40 odd shots on goal & score 4, we have a great chance to win. That would make our attack appear effective with or without 4 lines of offense - talking this game. Reaves scored last game giving that line credit.

Now giving up 5 appears an issue with D or tending or both.

3.5 mins too much. I was a little embarrassed for him. Clearly he had no business playing in a game where speed and skill are required. I don't think Sullivan was on-board with getting him in the first place so I could easily see him scrapping this experiment before too long.

40 odd generated chances when leaning heavily on the top 6 and the fourth line playing less than 5 minutes. We've had good defensive games and we have the personnel to have a strong-ish blue line. Losing Cole hurts but we shouldn't over correct to losing Cole by getting another guy or splitting up the top 4. The real issue last night was how gassed everyone was and that's going to only get worse if we keep leaning on the big guns to do everything
