Ben Case: Defensive Battle Ends In Blaze Of Offensive Chances The Carolina Hurricanes fell 2-1 in overtime last night to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a defensive chess match. While the game did have a few exciting offensive opportunities, much of it was a tight game that showcased D play and goaltending.

I wouldn't get too worried yet. It's early and was a Tuesday night game. Opening night was reported as a sellout. Over half of the home games this year are on Friday, Saturday or Sunday which should help draw good crowds too.

If they do well the first month or two, the buzz will get going and attendance won't be great, but it shouldn't be considered poor either hopefully.

I'd be more worried about teams that currently don't have an arena for the 2018 and beyond. I still think 32nd expansion team occurs before relocation. Perhaps they happen simultaneously, but I don't see relocation before 32nd team.

It does, but folks commenting on threads have more fun with speculating and commenting on the sportsnet article. Local articles (unless they are negative) are boring to the "hockey does not belong in the south crowd."
