Ben Case: Opening Night With The Wild In Town The Hurricanes are one of the last three NHL teams that will be playing their season opener today. They will be hosting the Minnesota Wild (0-1-0) and have had plenty of time this week to prepare. The Hurricanes have a bit of luck with their schedule because it starts slowly with only three games in the first ten days of the NHL season.

I'm stoked, didn’t get to any preseason games, but I'll be there tonight! I'm thinking that the Canes will out skate a lot of teams, this year, and use the possession game to limit scoring chances against. See ya all...there!

What is going on with Hanafin? He looked awful on that Stewart goal and he's been avoiding board battles and hits mostly all period.

He could've had two. Stellar save by Stalock with glove on play where TT forced turnover and Kuokkanen fed him. Not his best game but he kept playing hard. I imagine they will tighten up over the next few games.

It would have been very disappointing to not get a W. I am not sure how refs miss play in front of net with E. Staal. Seems the play should've been blown dead.
