First:

The Blues should be happy the way the game ended. They tried to give it to Pitt but the Penguins just wouldn't take it.

Don't look alot into this game for anything else than the points it represents.

Both clubs will play better as the season goes on.

Did anybody else notice a higher volume of net-front presence from the Blues? I hope my eyes didn't deceive me and this is the beginning of a more pronounced trend.

Schenn and Sobotka were in front of the net all night

Tage Thompson is going to be a beast before too long

Blues have the prospects to absorb some guys being out

Hopefully they work out

I thought overall it was a really good game by the Blues.

On the road, opening up against the defending cup champs, and coming away with 2 points......I will take it.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Let's Go Blues!

ps

Jason, IMO you are way too critical of Jake. For the cost, he is outstanding. My guess is you just don't like him too much as a goalie, which is fine.

I personally didn't like Elliott as a starter, and was always harder on him than I was on other Blues goalies. I think this is the same in your case with Allen. Just a thought, no offense intended.

Too early to be critical of any goalie imo. It takes a few weeks for goalies and defensive systems to get dialed in.

Anyone have any idea if we'll see Bishop tomorrow night? The Stars are playing tonight in Vegas I believe.

This. While I’d love to see Snake in mid-season form, it seems that his pattern suggests that he begins with over-aggressive play and mis-reads. Practice reigns in these natural tendencies. Sloppy defensive positioning doesn’t help either.

Another thing: how the hell is a defenseman supposed to play defense in front of a goalie if he can’t tie up the o-player’s stick?
