For something wildly different I'm gonna say Penguins-Jets. Pens in 6.

I'm not completely sold on Steve Mason, but I have learned to love Mark Scheifele after watching him up close at the last two World Championships. Add in talented forwards like Laine, Ehlers, Wheeler and Bryan Little, plus Big Buff on the back end and a new commitment not to take penalties, and I think this will be Winnipeg's breakthrough year.

I don't think all those young guns will be able to handle the pressure of the playoffs. But I think the Preds have a great mix and have the experience to get through.

It's not about winning the trade. It's about giving your player development crew a chance to mould a young player into a difference maker.

Gud is who he is but we'll never know what canuck development team could have made McCann into.

I understand the point about simply not making a trade that involves a C prospect. Looks like management has no time for kids that go out of their way to alienate themselves from the team. Don't forget, McCann made his distaste for the team that drafted him known from the very second his name was announced.

Guddy is still young. He'll be part of a young core. There isn't this big age gap between McCann and Guddy. Games played makes it look that way.

You are essentially worrying about a problem that applies to existing young players on any rebuilding team... they age while the team drafts... Horvat is 22... Guddy 24, Boeser is 21, JV 21. That's a young core with younger players coming in behind them. In a few years, middle aged players like Horvat and Guddy will lead as the vets... and be well under 30 still.

The central is a little more open, so they have a chance but I think the Preds need to upgrade in goal. Rinne stood on his head to get them to finals, but the came back to earth when it mattered most
