It's a tough call on whether or not to keep Girard up. There's something to be said for giving him 10-12 games at the NHL level over the first couple of months, and then letting him move back down to get more consistent time once Ellis is back. That has paid dividends for some of the guys contributing now (Fiala, Aberg, Salomaki, Sissons, etc.). I would also expect we may see Kamenev at some point for a few games if the forwards have any injury setbacks.
The good news is, the Preds have depth. Other teams would be forced to play Girard, or at least keep him up as a healthy scratch every night. The Preds actually have the depth to let him play nightly in Milwaukee, or use him with the big club. It's a nice "problem" to have. |
