All I can say about this is Wow, Couturier is finally getting a chance to see what he can do with skilled line mates. I suspect faceoffs are destroying Giroux's wrists ?? He is too good at faceoffs not to have him at center so I am sure that is the reason. I am excited to see how this line shakes down although I have my concerns with Couter's finishing ability but sure hope he nails it.

Slow on the rumour front for a long time I guess...

Its not a big deal and it isnt something that no one saw coming... Flyers have 9 Centermen on their team. It comes as no surprise that at least half of them cant play that position. Giroux, Couturier, Fillpula, Lehtera, Weal, Konecny, Nolan and Vecchione and Raffl have all played center at some point in their career. The way I think it will start:

Giroux - Couturier - Voracek
Weal - Fillpula - Simmonds
Konecny - Patrick - Read
Raffl - Lehtera - Weise

If Nolan Patrick does well I would no be surprised if he centers Giroux and Voracek

The only thing that scares me is the fact that Giroux is the only true #1 center. All the rest are third line centers in the past with the exception of Patrick. Filppula is not a top six player at this stage of his career. Hoping Couter works out.

Don't like the idea. I don't want my aging, smallish, highest paid player playing more than he needs to along the wall.

Couts IMO isn't skilled enough to be a top 2 centerman. So at least we can see this for a game or two and put it to bed

Finally for all the praise lavished on 4th liner Couts, he will be thrown into his natural 1C position after all these years. Flyers better (frank)ing hope the NHL is serious about the zero tolerance interference/hooking/slashing calls. Giroux will rebound in a frequent powerplay season.

Probably because there's no trade in the works, and they're not nearly as desperate for a LW as they are interested in fielding the best team they can with what they have.

Center is far more demanding physically than playing on the wing.
