My observations from play thus far:
1)Heinen, Bjork, Czarnik and DeBrusk all look pretty good. They all look like they want to be with the big club. Will be interesting to see who makes the cut.
2)Not sure who said it, if it was Ty, or someone else on here, but Subban is a glass wall in net. Once one goes in, they all go in. I think he has some great technical aspects to his game, and may be able to break the NHL one day, but McIntyre is far and away a better all around goalie in my opinion. If they can find a home for Khodobin, I would be perfectly fine with McIntyre being the backup this year. If they cant, also would be ok with him in the AHL, but he should see the lions share of goaltending duties in providence.
3)With all the young kids pushing for a spot, I am thinking that signing Purcell might be a good idea. Not because he is playing better, but I would rather have Purcell sitting in the press box than keeping an extra young gun up and him not seeing playing time. Still early, but there are as many as 6 or 7 guys out there that could be good fits. Sign Purcell cheap, he can be an extra.
4) My projected lineup: Just throwing out ideas (would be fun to see in my opinion)
Marchy - Bergy - Bjork
DeBrusk/Heinen - Krejci - Pasta
Vatrano - Spoons - Backes
Acciari - Nash - Schaller/Agostino/Beleskey
Extra: Purcell
(side note on forwards) I like this lineup because it puts a legit threat on the top three lines and the 4th line would be the energy line and also a place where they could slot in any extra/young providence forward to see what they have. Would love to see them move spooner, and then fit Czarnik in there or JFK. At this point, I really dont see Spooner ever becoming the future 2nd line center. If Spoons is playing well, sell high and fit another young gun in there.
Defense:
Chara - Carlo
McQuaid - Krug
Miller - McAvoy
Extra: Postma
(side note on defense) I like seeing the pairing of Chara - Carlo to start the season as the top shutdown pairing. I think eventually they could get to the point where McAvoy - Carlo is the dominant pairing. Might not be this year, but we will see what happens. I think they can start reducing Chara's minutes and play all three of these lines close to equally. Wouldn't be surprised if there is an 18 minute to 21 minute spread between the D man that plays the least amount of minutes and the most amount. If there is a surprise candidate in providence that deserves a call up, this might be the year to get assets for McQuaid. Love the guy, he is an absolute warrior, but eventually one of Miller or McQuaid needs to go and I think they have shown more of a commitment to Miller. (Signed longer for cheaper)
Goalies:
Rask
McIntyre
Notes: Not much to say here, this is what I would like to see once they can find a home for Khudobin. I doubt this happens this year, mostly because its Khudobin's last year on his contract and then you can let him walk, but I always feel its best to get some assets for players you would otherwise let walk for free.
My two cents. Look forward to the banter. |

I don't think we'll see Carlo and McAvoy together. They're both RHD and too good to play on their off side. I agree on the forward lines and about McIntyre and Subban |

at least it may only be three weeks. That'd mean he would only miss 3 games.

Krug will be out for a while. Only a matter of time before one or both of Miller and McQuaid go down with a shoulder injury. Who do we want to see?
Lets get some O'gara and Lauzon action up here.
New lines on D.
Chara - Carlo
O'gara - McAvoy
Postma - Lauzon/GRZELCYK |

You have to consider Zboril as well I think.. He's looked really good so far; a lot better than last year and his puck moving would be a great addition.
