In his previous coaching gigs, DeBoer's year 2 already reflected a significant decline from year 1... but he didn't do that with the Sharks, at least in the regular season... the playoffs were a disappointment, I'm sure, but losing to an up-and-coming Oilers team in a fairly close series isn't the worst thing that could have happened.

Also, it wasn't his fault parise and Kovy left nj. No coach can overcome that. Lou didn't have proper pieces in place either. He's a good coach, he'll do fine.

I think there's still a lot of people who doubt his ability to coach young players; given the Sharks current direction, he'll either prove them right or (I hope) wrong this season.

Being year 3 means nothing. The team situation is the issue. I'm not a big PDB fan but he's competent and wouldn't take what happened in NJ or FL to mean anything.
