really good blog Jan
the question of why was Andersson playing in Sweden just makes me feel stronger about the belief that he should just stay here, whether it's with the Rangers or the Wolfpack
the Rangers need full control of this kid, nobody else should have their paws in the mix |

Maybe it's me, but isn't it kind of crazy they only get 3 days together as a team before the first preseason game? Always thought training camp was so short in hockey. - TPC
It may be part of the CBA but players have been in camp for a bit and had some informal workouts. But yeah, would prefer a week together and additional scrimmages. |

Yea true players do train together during the summer. I was thinking if you are a new coach, or take for example Vegas this year. How do you get anything together in time for that first game. |

I am hoping he had a lousy prospect camp cause he was saving himself for the real one. |

Yeah most guys are skating, in some capacity, all summer long anyway. I don't think hockey players benefit from practice as much as other sports that are a bit more "structured" anyway. Hockey is pretty fluid and improvisational so I don't think that an extra week of half-speed practices is going to make or break much. I think playing preseason games is a lot more beneficial than bag skates and drills. |

Thanks Jan, good blog.
Doesn't look like AV is a fan of Desh, so he is fighting for a spot before camp even opens. My worry with Staal is that he starts the season strong then regresses and AV is slow to rest him. With the upgrade on D, that might actually happen this season. |

NHL.com is really selling the winter classic stuff with the Rangers having the N.Y. as the symbol
I was really thinking that was just a temporary thing, guess it's the real deal

Jan Levine: My take on AV's training camp press conference
Some interesting comments from the coach - airjan23
Skjei is a top-four d-man, end stop. No competing BS, no mind games, just pair him with Brendan Smith and end this stupidity. Play him on the second line PP and just let him go. He stepped up last year and should have been given even more responsibility. The failure to do so was on AV and Beuk. With Lindy Ruff now here, I expect even more growth from Skjei. - airjan23
Jan with the fire and correct take here. So who the naive one now, RD and Dundee? |
