Does it make sense for the Leafs to move Bozak for an unproven D man in Derrick Pouliot? He plays the left side and still has a pedigree that he may be able to tape into with another organization. I'd prefer to move Olli Matta... He's more of a proven commodity, but also costs 4+ mil for the next few years.
Bozak is the #1 faceoff man on the team, so he's not going anywhere unless its a package for a substantial upgrade on the back end, or an amazing overpayment.
Oh don't you (frank)ers worry. I'm free!

He's a LHD, but I would think that the Leafs would do that deal. Bozak has some value because he plays centre and adding a 3rd line centre for the Pens would be a big plus. At 23 Pouliot might be ok.

Bozak is unlikely to re-sign with the Leafs. There is no way the Leafs will lay down $4 to $5 Million to keep him - and this will most likely be his last chance at a very solid payday. Some team will give him 4-5 years X $4.5 Mil I would think - but it won't be the Leafs. As a rental - he will not command a significant package. The Leafs might keep him and lose him for nothing if they feel they have a chance to go deep in the playoffs, but I don't see that either. Biggest issue remains lack of depth at centre for the Leafs.

Just looking at the playoff race from last year, assuming Ottawa regresses slightly and Tampa produces a 100 point season, it looks to be a close race again this year. Didn't realize the NYI's were only a point behind the Leafs with actually one more win.

Tampa is an interesting team - they have solid talent on offense, defense and in net. I would think they make it unless they see injuries again. Injuries for them are a major point though - Stamkos is very unlucky it seems. There will be plenty of teams on the bubble this year - Boston, Ottawa, Rangers, Flyers and even the Habs. There is a chance, especially with injuries that the Leafs miss the playoffs. We'll see, Vegas does like the Leafs, I've seen a couple of posts where Vancouver is playing longer odds to win than Las Vegas.
