So, the Sedins dialed-it-in last season - and they're going to get rewarded for it with an extension??? |

Bloody right the should be rewarded with an extension, if they each pot 60 points and people like you female dog about it, but covet Kane, Turris, yada yada who are 10 years younger and still not near what the Sedins accomplished at their ages.
Every year they produce give them another year.
Dial-it-in my ass

So maybe some clarification Carol?
How is Turris a bonafide no 1 C when only having cracked 60 pts once? |

Thanks Carol,
I disagree that the Vanek signing is a negative thing. The reason I dont is because I am not buying into the hype of the prospects just yet. The pool is definitely better than it has been in ages, but that wasnt a high bar to surpass. I think the excitement for them is a little premature to have a bunch thrown in this season's opening lineup |

Nothing wrong with 40+ points for 2 mil considering where this team is at. |

Turris isn't a bonafide 1C, neither is Hoffman but they're a pretty deadly 1-2 punch. I think its hopeful that Ottawa was a goal away from the SCF without an elite top line.
So the prospect of Bo, Pettersson or Gaudette not becoming elite 1C should give us some hope that success can be attained without a McD or Crosby. |

remember the olden days... when people were praising the "shanaplan?" you gotta tank and sign vets to reasonable deals and then flip them for prospects and picks.
those really were the old days because signing journeymen vets today means that you're trying to compete and robbing youngsters of roster spots.
if you're not playing all your prospects, you're not rebuilding i suppose.

What would be worse? Having Vanek for a year or POSSIBLY ruining a good prospect.
Id like to know if attendance went up after the TDL.....
The fans were given what they wanted, the kids to play. Did they show up to see them play? |

I think the "ruining a prospect" thing is overblown. Either the kid can play or he can't. And giving young guys that much ice time probably isn't going to be detrimental if there isn't much internal pressure to win. |

Yamamoto and Benson are their two promising fwd prospects, not sure their pipeline is very full right now. Bear is a decent D prospect as well. |

It's easy to say a guy isn't a 1C when he's not a C at all. That's all I was saying. |
