RICO!
I loved to watch him play defense it was so different during a game when the puck got to his stick. The game seemed to slow down until he decided it was time to move.
One of my all time favorite Flyers and one of the classiest guys to ever wear the uniform. In what was a truly messy situation, he was the perfect choice to take the "C", when it was taken away from Eric Lindros. In my book, he's absolutely 2nd only to Mark Howe when it comes to ranking the Flyers all time best defensemen.

Yup, and I see some of that already in Provorov which is amazing. The only other Flyer Dmen who had that ability were Howe, Pronger and Timonen.

No question. Desjardins holds the edge in my books over Timonen due to games played. It's close because they're pretty similar in my opinion but Eric Desjardins without question is a beloved Philadelphia Flyer. It was a nightmare come to life to hear prior to the 2004 playoffs he hurt himself playing catch with his son (due to Roenick accidentally hitting him in a game earlier that same season).
When he had the puck in O zone and let his shot go in a "we really need a goal scenario", I would always have a confident feeling of a goal.
After his first year, Ghost would give me that same feeling.
I hope the feeling for Ghost returns this year.
Desjardins is probably #7 on my all-time favorite Flyers list. Loved watching that guy play.
And for those too young to understand the nickname, enjoy.
You can thank me later when that is stuck in your head all day lol - Scoob
Really, thanks a lot, I didn't even click that (frank)ing video and that (frank)ing song is playing in my head.
Please someone post another song so I can get that one out of my cerebral cortex forever.
Quick aside about The Athletic. I like Charlie and think the idea of the site is cool. I wouldn't mind paying for it, especially if I could buy a Flyers only package. However, I don't know if you can call it premium coverage when the best Flyers writer out there doesn't work for you.

Good call. Although, young Provorov is already drawing comparisons to greats.
I really liked reading about Provy's relationship with his Dad and how they break down his play after games and where improvements are needed.

The kids dedication to both training and improving his game is phenomenal. I really can't see him having any kind of sophomore slump.

I wonder if he took any teammates to do his workout with him?
If so, knowing that/those players would be interesting to know and see how that regime helped them.

Hopefully his old teammate Nolan Patrick will join him. I'm hoping those 2 are the foundation pieces that they build their next championship team around.
Scoob the athletic is a sports site that's kind of being hyped. Pretty well known writers, Charlie doing the flyers. They also have the other Philly sports teams. It's subscription based though

I subscribed. Pierre LeBrun was added to the list of hockey writers today.

What made Montreal think trading away a top level D man for a high scoring winger was a good idea. Whether or not Leclair ever turned out to be good or not, I still think the top level defenceman is way more valuable to a team.
Charlie Conway was the heart and soul of the original Minneapolis Mighty Ducks and, later, served as both player and assistant coach for Team USA at the Junior Goodwill Games. As a member of the Minneapolis Mighty Ducks, he scored the championship-winning goal on a penalty shot as time expired.
