No. Had an item on Flyers jersey retirement and gave my take on whether his number should be retired.

We are truly lucky to have you Bill.

Love seeing your work on the Flyers official site. It's a strange feeling for me to actually feel a bit of pride reading your stuff outside of hockeybuzz because I hate the media that follows Philadelphia sports teams. You're the man Bill, thanks for all the work you put into the blobs that we all come to expect every day even during the dog days of summer.

Great post, I feel the same way.

I'll be reading something on the official site with a smirk because I know I'm reading quality material while "everyone else" isn't. Whatever it is, you deserve to be writing for any outlet around Bill. Your insight and analysis are the cream of the crop and I'm glad you're getting articles out there on more mainstream platforms. You deserve it.

That being said, relax for the day and enjoy a picnic with the fam. Happy Labor Day everyone!

Without a doubt Bill gets us all through the summer........Home burnt to the ground earlier this year with my home business as well being lost, yet somehow I still found time to read just about every daily article to put me in a happy place if not for just a few minutes. Bill - your efforts are appreciated, Enjoy labor day.

Bill's the best.

Jay Greenberg is also the best, and I'm always happy when I can catch him on the Sirius/XM hockey channel. Outside of that.. I'm not too thrilled with Flyers coverage locally.

edit: i know jay doesnt actually officially cover the flyers any longer... but he still "covers" the flyers, if you know what i mean.

Charlie O'Connor was pretty good on BSH too.

Speaking of which, anyone know what this new "The Athletic" thing is? Seems to be coaxing a few notable writers away from their previous gigs. Looks like it might cost money?

Their "philadelphia" section is set to go live tomorrow. I think I'll take a few peeks to feel it out

Thank you, everyone. You are ultimately the ones who enable me to make a living as a hockey writer, which is the fulfillment of a dream.

Re: Jay Greenberg, he's in the Hockey Hall of Fame for a reason. My all-time favorite hockey writer and I am proud to call him a friend.

Re: the Athletic, they are a paywall site with many different price points depending on the packages purchased. They have lured a lot of high profile writers and some lesser known but high-quality ones as well. Still kind of tough to get people to pay for info online they're used to getting for free but more and more sites are moving in that direction. Charlie will do a good job for them, covering the Flyers.

Agree with the sentiments of all the fans here.
We appreciate the fact that Bill, has been here every day this summer and even on National Holidays giving us our Flyers fixes to at least to make it another day till the puck drops.

Thank you for all of the great stuff this summer Bill.

I was looking at The Athletic's site and their pricing... $8/month or $48/year.

For someone who is desperate for good writing and has more money than sense (me!), the yearly deal might be worth a shot. There is no guarantee of course that like the late Frank DeFord's stab at quality print journalism, The National (almost 30 years ago) that this won't end up being a dumpster fire, but I'd really like it to succeed.

and they have a 7 day free trial right now.
