My how times have changed! If memory serves- Beast was asking for like $225K and Clarkee wouldn't move off of $210K. FIFTEEN GRAND was the difference. To think, even in 1987, if they asked everyone to pay an extra BUCK for ONE game, that would have covered it and given Clarke an extra 2,077 to invest elsewhere, right?

Yes, it was the difference between $200K (Flyers final offer) and $225K (McCrimmon agent demand).

Sinful it was such a small amount of difference but it really brings light to the younger fans at how those guys actually played for more than just the money, 200k is nothing to kick about in the late 80's but that still seems shy of a league minimum salary now even counting inflation. (google says 225K is about 482k today - and Brad was a stud player no less)

Carter was and still remains one of the top players in the NHL. Under appreciated by many in his time here.

Ugh that McCrimmon deal. Clarke could be stubborn to a fault.

Carter was good but I'll take both the Richards and Carter trades any day of the week, Schenn never hit the full potential but both trades still worked well in our favor and Homer had to have some real guts to make a trade like that coming off top player caliber seasons, Cant recall the last time that was gone on 2 stars of a team, just coming into they're prime.

Great player who will forever be unappreciated by me as the fool who couldn't elevate a puck. If you put me in that position at that instant (ignoring the fact that of course I couldn't even sneeze at the front of the net against NHL players), I score that goal. You're in the (frank)ing NHL you bum. FFS.

Sorry, but that memory has tainted him in my eyes. I won't argue with you about it, because it's just, like...my opinion man.

I think you're referring to the the time against the Pens in the playoffs that he could of put us up 4-1? If so too never forgave him or his patented skate down the wing shoot wide for a 3 on 1 the other way.
I lived in LA for the King's runs and even though they have always been my number 2 team, I would not get on the bandwagon solely for Carter and his failure vs Pens.

The one in the Cup finals that would have won the (frank)ing game with 90 seconds left

The puck was elevated, it hit the goalie in the mask if I remember correctly. The puck was deflected by the stick of Brian Campbell on the play.

Brad,

I love your daily content ESPECIALLY in the dead of the summer but...

No mention of WHY Richards and Carter got BLOWN out of Philly and the entire team was rebuilt?

C'mon, tell the whole story.

Remember Pronger's "Dry Island" and the kids not participating? Remember not wearing a Flyers hat (logo) in front of Mr. Snider at a youth hockey event.

The trades Homer did turned out great long term but the Flyers took a long time to adapt to a capped-world. A LONG TIME.

Niemi made a nice desperation save, and I think Brian Campbell got a piece of the shot. Tough play.

I was always a Jeff Carter fan. And he's gone on to have a really nice career. Good for him. The Flyers got two really, really good players out of the trade.
