I'm a Sabres fan, and a hockey fan. I would argue that 30 years ago the Edmonton Oilers were not a laughing stock of professional sports. They just finished winning 5 Cups in 7 years.. but I'd have to agree the last 25 years were semi-embarrassing. Except when they unexpectedly made it to the finals in 05-06 vs Carolina and the late 90's where they ran into a pretty good Dallas team that beat them 4 or 5 years in a row.
