Peter Tessier: 'Real' Talk: Jets Defense Edition Taking a look at the Jets defence and what is realistic for them this coming season.

Real talk regarding Tyler Myers, the "Picture Says 1000 Words" edition

A healthy defensive core would serve us well:

Morrissey - Trouba (let the youngsters shine)

Enstrom - Byf (cut Byf's TOI by 4 to 5 minutes per night and you'll have the good Byf ... Enstrom stays at home - for one more year)

Kulikov - Myers (that is a very decent 3rd pairing ... expensive but decent)

Keep working on the prospects

I don't know. Myers plays good hockey when playing with Toby. I would want that pairing to to start the season. I like Trouba and Morrisessy as a pairing their styles complement each other. Buff playing managed minutes is still more then capable of carrying Kulakov even if he doesn't have a bounce back year.

Though Nashville and Calgary have better top four units, I believe the Jets have the best top 6!

Enstrom - Myers

What a beautiful d-corp!!!

Realistically one would think that these 6 Jets defensemen should be able to play more than the combined 61% of games that they played last year. This should allow for a reduction of Buff's ice time closer to 20 min per game and then we should see more of the "good" Buff.

We also need Trouba to sign long term to clear that cloud from the sky.

I'll get to that but here's my quick take- Ehlers probably will not get near that. Laine has to prove he's still going that trajectory and when he does he will get near it.

Problem with Draisaitl is he's number 2 behind the best number 1, so it was going to cost regardless but 8.5 is too high.
