Per our man Garth-

Earlier this week, Burcher's agent told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette that his client isn't looking for a plug-n-play NHL opportunity. In other words, he isn't trying to leverage his way onto an NHL roster straight away. What Butcher is interested in is signing with a team that has a plan in mind for him. If that means playing a year in the AHL then playing 10+ years in the NHak, then so be it.

If this is true then I want nothing to do with this guy Burcher. The dude should at least aspire to play in the National League, and not be satisfied to be a hak for the rest of his life.

Thank god we have Botterill.

Murray would have butchered this.

Not sure how his talent will translate to the NHL, but the Sabres should give Butcher their best shot. The Sabres are low on quality d prospects and they need to start filling that position. However, I would be surprised if he didn't sign with a contender like Pittsburgh or Chicago, hard to pass that opportunity up.

if the sabres sign him, it's like getting one of the draft picks back that murray threw away

a lot of it has to do with fit and opportunity...it'd be hard to say no to those two clubs, then again, look what Housley did with the preds defense and look how well ryan ellis played

Pach, were you able to watch much of the Indians/Rays series? It has been brutal watching the Rays offense the last 2 weeks, and they could only score 1 run on a guy who has an ERA of over 9 yesterday. Indians look really good again, hopefully they keep it going because the Twins are on fire.

getting jay bruce was pretty big for them and although it's not quite murderer's row this is a lineup to be reckoned with:

lindor
kipnis
Ramirez
encarnacion
bruce
Santana

plus Jackson/chisenhall

kluber's gold, Salazar looks great and carrasco looks good as well...

need the bullpen to step it up

Yeah, them and the O's have been closing in. I think the Rays have a good shot if they can somehow get some offense going. 11 runs in a 9 game homestand and shutout 5 times. Blake Snell is pitching for the Rays tonight against the Jays, Snell is 0-6 this year.

Kris Baker is saying maybe we are interested in Blaine Byron because he was drafted in Pittsburgh.

Could be decent depth player. Hope we sign at least one or two of the guys in the next few days that will become FA's, always need more young players with potential.

I would seriously have traded Eichel 5 minutes ago if it somehow led to us winning the cup this season.

A cup is literally all that matters at this point.
