I think hellebuyck is the real deal. I don't know why he is a lightning rod for criticism as a rookie last year. He has had incredible stats everywhere else he's played. Jets need to be patient.

Steve Mason is the clear number one goalie in Winnipeg until he plays poorly and loses the job. Same as any other team's number one, you have it and you have to maintain the rights to play the majority of games.

Very well stated. Hellebuyck is the real deal. His career trajectory reminds me very much of John Gibson in Anaheim.

I agree. The real deal. He has also done a lot of off-season work this summer on his game and training methods. Its not long before he will start to shine. Better defence, a reliable partner to relieve the pressure, and a more seasoned group of forwards who will hopefully all be better 2-way players will all help here. The quality of oppositions chances will be reduced and hence better numbers .

Hellebuyck's success (or failure) is all based on the system we play. He's already shown that he's willing to work at being the best. Our horrid man-to-man, let them drag our Dmen to the blueline and confuse the forwards down low, leaving the front of the net wide open system doesn't work. Our #6 is Dmitry Kulikov. That would've been insane in 2013. He's fallen far now, as has Myers (and even Toby if we're talking production), but we still have a top 10 group on the blueline. If the season starts off bad, every coach in the organization needs to go. The Moose suck since Vincent was made head coach, and the only new hire on the Jets bench (aside from Maurice) was Kompon (the guy who runs our special teams), and he was fired after LA's second cup win because their PP was so bad.

Hellebucyk 26-19-4 .907
Hutchison 9-15-3 .903
Pavelec 4-4 .888

Imagine if one or both of Hutch/Pav had played better.

Mason will help lead the Jets back to the playoffs, IMO.

All three Tenders left a lot of points on the table last year.

I really hope Hellebuyck can sort his poop out. Although now having Mason playing I'm not sure what message that is sending him. Wasn't he supposed to be the starting goalie by now? I really like the team you guys are getting together although Buff is a goose, I hope you can get it going.
