They may have called about JVR, and the Leafs will ask about Trouba, but he is not moving this year unless Nylander or Marner are involved. In reality, it probably takes more than one of those guys. I am sure a lot of teams call about Trouba and they should. He's a legit top pairing D man with potential to be a #1 guy. Think Hall for Larssen. Trouba is better than Larssen though, by a lot. He can shut down AND be on your top PP. There are only two scenarios where he moves for less than a Marner/Nylander, I think.

First, he plays out this contract and behind the scenes, lets Chevy know he has no intention of signing long term and that he wants to be dealt. If he keeps it quiet, the Jets might entertain the idea. If he goes public, Chevy has no choice but to dig in his heals just like last time.

Second, he plays out his RFA years with the Jets like all young NHLers have to and pick his team as a UFA.

I think the Jets hang on to him for as long as they can and hope a good run or two in the playoffs will sway Trouba to resign.
