Personally I think it would have been wide hitting the side of the net lol but either way, it was still dramatic as (frank) and in the moment it was exciting.

I dunno, I've seen that play so many times maybe I'm used to MAF's greatness. But the goalie level cam just doesn't seem so special in light of the shots he faced that game and the time he had to get in position (although if I know MAF, he tends to flop and make the more "athletic" play)

EDIT: this is not a troll take

When theres a new thread you gotta hit the reply at the top of the board, and then go back to the whole threat and then the quote button will work.

I agree, but it looks cool, and better safe than sorry.

Also, I concur that he made a lot more "athletic" saves because he wasn't great fundamentally, as opposed to a guy like Murray who makes more or less "boring" saves.

Pens shoppers, there is a sale on in aisle 3. Looking for a 3C, aisle 3 I repeat aisle 3.

All Pens shoppers aisle 3, it won't last, first in first serve, aisle 3!

Meanwhile in literature section, 'I am want man - Chigaco please', the biography of the great Geno Malkin - his story so far. Don't miss out on his tale of suffering being in the shadows just wanting to shine as the man he knows he can be.

And of course all you culnary enthusiasts, the down under special today has a cured beef tongue assortment marinated in a vegimite sauce - it's quite the delight so bring your down under chunder bags.

A reminder to all shoppers, tea leafs will be taken out back & kicked in the nuts repeatedly so keep your filthy (frank)ing little grubby hands in your pockets.

Thank you & have a nice day - aisle 3 for the 3C.

Oh for sure. I agree on both accounts, the save, and Murray/Fleury stylistically.

I don't disagree with any of the points in this blog. However, just because the Penguins gave great goal support and carried possession does not mean they were good in their own zone when the puck was there. There were several years during Byslma's tenure where the defense was TERRIBLE around their own net. They never picked up the open guy. Their laziness around the net would have been called out in beer league hockey. So, yes, Fleury benefited from their offense, but he was also definitely hurt statistically by their bad defense.

The object of being a fan is to overlook shortcomings and overcelebrate success. Those that feel MAF's #29 should be hung from the rafters are not wrong for feeling the way they do, and to call for the Hall is their right as well.

MAF was the best and only Pens goalie for many. That is something special as well.

I am a fan, I don't necessarily think HoF, but certainly wouldn't think less if he were. Retire his number...not until Jagr's is. Then we can talk.

For my dollar, Michel Dion had the best mask and played well with pretty much the opposite team that the Pens had for MAF.

THIS ALL DAY. Dan Bylsma was an awful coach. I hate the fact that MAF took so much of the blame when the defensive scheme of the team was so obviously exposed.....especially when the playoffs rolled around. DK's site did a lot of reporting on Disco in the playoffs. How he felt they didn't need to game plan and make adjustments.

MAF was probably never elite, but his numbers would be better with a better coach.

I have pretty much said the same things about MAF for some time now. Playoffs were his biggest downfall. He was miserable in a lot of them. Thank GOD Murray showed up. MAF is gone but at best he was just an average goalie and a really good team. Should have had better results. But most on this board will not agree with the facts because he is a nice guy. And you know the story about nice guys.

Nothing but the cold hard truth. All the MAF lovers are crying their eyes out. They cannot believe their hero was nothing but average

Not arguing, but they don't win the Cup this year without MAF. Big picture, he was good for the organization for a long time.

"Greatness" ? Puhleeze. See the article,.
Greatness would have applied if he had played that way in the post season. He did not. While he added spectacular saves at times, he also let in shots that a 4 year old would stop. Unfortunately, he did that as often as the spectacular save and thats why he isn't "Great" and why we might not have another banner or two from the 2010-2015 time period

MAF had a lot of promise coming into Pittsburgh. However, he never quite lived up to the hype. Very athletic, but tended to over react to the action in front of him. The best goalies make the last move and are very patient with an economy of movement. MAF could do that occasionally but never consistently. It's his inconsistency that is noteable IMO.

All the best in Vegas, Marc Andre Fleury! You have made me smile so many times during your stay in Pittsburg. Truly a remarkable person and a pretty darn good goaltender despite what the trolls have to say. Cheers bro
