Are you implying that playing behind Brent Burns should make a goaltender's numbers seem BETTER??? |

I don't know what you expect. If the top-100 list taught us anything, it's that old-school guys love attributing team success to individual players. |

Also all the fancy stat guys say Lundqvist is a god because the rangers defense is constantly out possessed year after year. But then uses Mcdonagh and Skjei as a reason why Lundqvist should be below Schneider. |

well, you know who gets out-possessed even more/doesn't have any big name defenders? New Jersey |

Hardly surprising. His numbers last year weren't good and he's generally never been considered amongst the top tier goalies. With our D he'll likely have another down year. Who on the top 10 list should be knock off based on last years performance?

Have to agree, Todd. However, the guy I'd omit from that list is Quick. Schneider absolutely belongs on this list over him. Lundqvist is at best 10.
Him and Quick are the two guys that I debate internally over as to who fits in that top 10. However, in regards to Schneider, there should be absolutely no debate. |

I heard enough from bloggers about the Rangers only being good because of Lundqvist and his team actually won many games and playoff series to know he is much better than Schneider. |

He's better than Quick, Lundquist, Jones, and Rinne. The only guys who are without a doubt better are Price, Holtby, and Bobrovsky. The rest are debatable/interchangeable. |

Goaltending is a very volatile position. It changes over the course of time, so guys who are able to stay consistent are generally better, in my mind.
I also think that you can't look at the Devils defense and say look what he has to play behind without also factoring in that the Devils play very low event hockey. It has to be considered. Schneider is without a doubt good enough to be considered top 10 though. |

The first thing I have agreed with in quite a while.
A goalie's job is to win games. Just like a quarterback in football. Just like a pitcher in baseball If you win you are a hero. If you lose a bum. It has been that way for years, and there is a reason why.

He also said that we have the 22nd ranked prospect pool when last year his website had us ranked as the 9th best somehow after drafting first overall and having a very successful draft we've fallen to 22 |

Scheider is a good goalie, above average and 10-15 in the league. However he doesn't really belong in the top 10.
What gets me is how one decent year and Talbot is 7. Nope.
QUick may have lost a step but he's still a high end goalie. Also Gibson from ANA should get more love.

Loved the line about how they need a prospect like Provorov. 2015 is the draft that just keeps punching me in the gut. - smellmyfinger
that line is actually hilarious |
