Edmonton fan here.

I think Calgary fans need to ease up on Brouwer a bit.

He seems to be a bit of a scapegoat, from the bit I have seen on Calgary and before he isn't as bad as many here are wont to make him.

I also think Bennet gets a long leash from the fans and giving him a free pass on that line is a bit bias.

Many players have troubles adjusting to a new team, city, and systems. As much as it pains me to say it I would be very surprised if Brouwer was not significantly better this year compared to last.

4.5mill per year is always going to be a bit more than he is ever going to bring to the table but for a FA that's just the way it works. Brouwer is also the kind of guy that will never be as flashy as say Bennet but can absolutely still be effective on a successful team... Like he was on St. Louis for years.

Brouwer is a veteran player being paid 4.5 million dollars, you're god damn right we are going to have higher expectations for him. If he was a nobody he would have been sent down to the AHL, his play last year was not that of an NHL calibre player.

Bennett just turned 21 and was drafted 4th overall. Only a complete idiot wouldn't cut the kid some slack

I like the group of early birds that have been skating (Stajan, Ferland, Brouwer, Stone). I think it shows that they all know they need to step it up a notch (yes, even Ferland).

I don't know if people realize just how much worse Brouwer was last year compared to the seasons prior. It's a huge drop off.

He scored a ton of his goals with the Caps on the PP...had better linemates 5v5. And most Caps fans still hated him.

Yeah but even just... like... shots. He had almost half as many shots as he had in St. Louis the year before.
Lowest hit totals since he was 23.
More giveaways than takeaways for the first time in his career.

Dude had a shooting percentage of 15.5%(!!!!) and still only managed 13 goals.
