Very nice. Thanks Jan, nice way to wrap up the weekend.
It does look like he intends to start his NHL career!

Thanks Jan.
I fully expect he gets a shot to open the season on the roster. If it doesn't go as well as hoped, that's a tough call to send him down and burn a year just to keep an eye on him in the farm system rather than play out the year overseas.
Despite the lack of center and how high the organization is on him, I'd rather he go back to Sweden to save a year.
As you said, playing against kids his age is a lot different than vets, so I'd rather have him grow a year than burn him out trying to fill a position he's not ready for.

Well said Jan. I hope Gorton's able to bring in a 2C. Even a 2c/3c would give AV options.

Hayes has proven that he can raise his game and perform as a 2c over the course of several weeks. Unfortunately, he has yet to prove that he can sustain that level of play over the course of a long season or step it up in the playoffs.

Probably, because I don't see how David Desharnes can be the 3C and Boo Nieves can be the 4C. As you said, in the blog Lias Andersson will likely never be a star. How can it ever be a good idea to draft role player in the top 10 of any draft?

Never said he was a role player. Upside is a second-line center, that's not a role player.

I hate seeing talented young players get shuffled around. Like Puljujarvi in Edmonton last season. Just my opinion, but when a player is a late round pick with limited upside you can handle him in a way that's best for the team, but when a guy is a high pick with high upside you should handle him in a way that's best for him and his development (which ends up being best for the team long term anyways).

how the (frank) does anyone know whether or not Lias Anderson will be a star?

stop clinging to this notion that this was a bad pick, it's less than 2 months later and you are already looking like the dumbest amateur draft "expert" ever seen

nobody knows. Andersson could ultimately be better than Patrick or Hirschier, you don't know he can't.

2011 draft, 2 months later, everybody would have guaranteed Nugent-Hopkins and Landeskog would be better players than 7th overall pick Mark Schiefele right?

How fast can you say Manny Malhortra ...ruined him by throwing him a no win situation..I dont care how mature an 18 yr old can be from sweden...the jump is a joke from a boy into a mens world...
NYR is much better off taking there time and ... need sum leverage when making deals ...
why not Bozak & JVR for Staal & 1 tyop D prospect (Pionk) an 1 top draft pick
we get under cap
they save a contract slot since up near 50 .... Staal can still play
we get a real cup run team with outs for next w/F A in JVR & Bozak
OR Dukey for Holden & top prospect or 2 or draft pick

gotta let this august poker game play out .. around the lg there are alot of incomplete rosters .....the bluff is on till Labor day.....tough to wait & watch

Stall isnt going anywhere. His NMC guarantees that. What AV needs to realize that the NMC does not mean he cant be moved to the press box

DD is a skilled top 9 center. I expect him to pivot the 3rd line to start the year.

When Staal agrees to alter his NMC, deal? Good.

I have never seen somebody so desperately clinging to something negative

just admit you were wrong already like everybody else already has who instantly labeled him a bust

After 2 month you want me to declare that Lias Andersson will be a lock on the roster? Seems premature.
