The Jets - they've got some nice players, but as a whole, they're just a mess. Why?

Well, personally, I think one of their problems is they stack up that one line. Scheifele, Laine, and Wheeler. They've got enough to create a decent, not great, second line, with Little, Ehlers, and whatever else they throw out there. But after that, they're depth is horrendous.

Those 3 don't really pay much attention to the defensive zone either, and Byfuglien isn't exactly a defensive stud. In fact, they don't really have a solid defensive dman back there at all.

It sort of generates a situation where they're trying to outscore their opponents, with some pond hockey, but they've only got one line capable of doing it. Especially with the goaltending they had.

I think you'll see them be a little better off this year, but Steve Mason is going to get hung out to dry, ALOT, I suspect. Even though a better team, they'll probably end up as a bubble team again. But who knows, maybe they're a bubble team that wins their first ever playoff game.

Long term, I think they're gonna have to get a new coach, make a few trades for some more defensively responsible players, if they ever want to be competitive.

I agree with this completely, the fact that Maurice and Cheveldayoff still have a job is kinda boggling.

This is a team that should be in the playoffs, especially with the lucky pickup of laine.

From a fantasy standpoint, I have had Buffer as a staple on my "Keeper" defense for the last 3-4 years. He is as good as it gets. PIMs, PP points,SOG, goals for a defenseman. Just a real stud every year.We get to keep 8 and every year I keep Burns and Buffer and pick up any other 2 D-men in the re-draft. First last year, second previous year, first year before that. Nice 3 year run, and those two defense set the tone.

This year I will hold Forwards P. Kane - RW, Simmonds RW, Backstrom C, Panarin LW, Talbot G, Dubnyk G (along with the 2 afore-mentioned D-men)

Leaves me needing a Center, a LW, and 2 defense to complete my starting roster. Along with 3-4 bench guys.

I LOVE Buffer. He adds to so many categories. Him and Burns are like having two extra forwards in the PPpoints, shots, goals and assist categories.

Go Buffer!!!!!!!

Speaking of my keepers. What you guys think of Panarin?? Will his production and fantasy value suffer much in his move to the Jackets??? I am not considering NOT keeping him, just wondering if he doesn't take a small dip not playing with Patty Kane???

FANTASY BLOG! LUCAS! WOO!

1: Trouba is amazing.

2: With so many good forwards, unless injuries happen, despite him being very good, Kyle Connor might struggle to get alot of points... but a decent player to have as a rookie in different leagues. He'll play in the NHL and, if given the chance, will produce for sure.

Yeah Connor just needs to stay in the top 6 and he will be gold.

Trouba is under rated I agree!

Laine may not be the prettiest human, but he's got one hell of a shot!

Laine has one of the best shots I've ever seen. It's just vicious.

However, a huge part of goal scoring is getting to the open space, and getting to the net. His goal scoring numbers will improve from his rookie season, obviously, but not to the extent that Jets fans hope for, I think. They think he'll challenge for 50 goals this year. I say it's 40 to 45.

I agree with this.

Laine is the best shooter to come into the NHL since Ovechkin imo.
