There is a chance that Mittelstadt could be the steal of the draft and may end up being the best forward selected. His upside and skill was/is as high as anyone in that draft. The Sabres haven't had a ton of luck in the draft. But im hoping that we could finally strike gold for once.

it's summer, he's 18 and has some growing to do, but man is he talented...upside is there and some are thinking he could be a one and done in college...we'll see, but i'm of the opinion that he or any other prospect should not be rushed

Once Mittelstadt start training and eating the right food he's going to be a beast

As long as the following is not a part of his diet, he may actually gain the strength to be awesome in the pros:

Nice write up. I could see Guhle playing in the NHL in a way that's reminiscent of the goalie situation a few years back. Miller gets hurt, and lalime was absolutely terrible that year (i believe he hadn't won a game), so Enroth comes up and takes over.

Anyway, so this year Bogo gets hurt (because why wouldn't he) and Gorges comes in as the 7th Dman. After two games of that, Housely says, "JB, you gotta get me Guhle" and Guhle never goes back down.

Anyway, that's my hope

I agree but I do think that high end prospects going the college route hold a bit more power. I just think you have to cater to them slightly more so if hes ready and willing I think he will end up in the NHL sooner than later.

Yea also depends on the type of game you play. If you are elusive and have enough skill, I believe you can play in the NHL regardless of how much muscle you have. But physically I think he will be fine.

That's not really a thread.

I've offered to take over the reigns several times there since Matt left but, alas, never get a response.

agreed...however nylander had trouble dealing with the bigger players at the AHL and NHL-level...he figured it out and added some bulk this off season

For sure. I do think Nylander was a bit rushed going into the AHL at 18. He only spent one year in Junior before being throw into the pros. I expected issues there with the transition. I think Mittelstadt will be better suited when he comes out of college.

Pach, do you think C.J. Smith has a chance of making the roster instead of Bailey or Baptiste? I have zero recollection of him playing 2 games last year; i must have checked out. His college stats are good

could be...he has a bit more to his frame than nylander...just needs to add some muscle and from what I've read, Minnesota is a good place to do so
