"The Avs aren't one of the worst franchise of the past five years and anyone who thinks so is an bumhole who doesn't know anything because reasons. But sure, go ahead and rip on Lolorado since it's the cool thing to do!"
Close enough? |

It was the sparksnotes version. Wouldn't even dare to try to do a pure impression. |

I always wonder why GMs dont take a more aggressive approach with these situations. Clearly he is not happy with the avs and Im sure wont be signing with them. Id be willing to place a big bet on that much. If you were the pens and with his agent already saying they would definitely be interested in signing there why not trade a conditional 6th for him right now? Im sure the avs have a pretty good idea they dont have a chance and also need any sort of picks they can get. Yes you "might" be able to get him without giving up a 6th but then you will be competing with probably 5 other teams at that point. Why in the world would the avs not say yes to getting at least something for him and if he didnt sign with the pens then nobody gets anything and the avs also have a chance still to sign him. Is a conditional 6th not worth at least trying? |

Well if the agent insinuated he'd like to hear from the Penguins and the kid is fine not being guaranteed an NHL roster spot, this seems like pretty much a slam dunk to me. With how bare our pipeline is, this would be a massive pick up. I really hope Bengston and/or Prow take a step forward this year and can at least be call ups. |

"If they happen to call," Bartlett said, "I’m sure we’d answer the phone."
I translate that as "Make a competitive offer and there's a good chance we'll accept".

Last year, Patrick Roy personally told Will Butcher that the Avalanche would never sign him and that he didn't fit the bill. Literally told him he wasn't good enough. Joe tried to repair that relationship but the damage was already done. Avalanche fans have known this for a while now and we fully expected him to walk. Yeah, that's the kind of crap Roy was doing... |

Hobey Baker? More like Hobey Faker!
I actually didn't mean that. I just wanted to write it and yes, I know it's not funny. I think the Pens should change the name of the WBS Baby Pens to WBS University. |

FINALLY we are talking about the guy I mentioned months ago and posted about earlier in the week

From the last blog:
I thought this was an intriguing idea, but when I looked closer at Johansson's numbers he got a lot of PP points and we all know the Pens top guys never leave the ice on the PP so the secondary guys never get their share. Been a low 30s ES scorer. I'd still be interested, just not sure if I'd trade Maatta who I think will rebound this year. - Tojo.
I agree - I don't think Johansson is anything special but I think he would be fine as a 3C. Maybe Maatta is too much. They got him for a high 2nd and high 3rd round draft pick. Presumably that was the best offer that Washington had for him. Maybe that means the Pens could get him for a low 1st and a low 2nd. Sheary is the only other option I can think of that the Devils would want and then we wouldn't have to worry about Johansson's cap hit.
He annoys me, though, with his diving and faking injuries, so I hope we don't get him. Just a thought that would work for both teams. |

Where the (frank) is Coga? I'm so disappointed it's not funny. I was expecting some type of abusive rhetoric that we could all appreciate & expand on!! Not fair!
On another note.
If he does sign, will Gonchar get his hands on him if he is playing in WBS? I really think that is a huge reason he would sign with the Pens if Gonchar has input in his development. |

Come on Ryan, you're better than this.
Bartlett could and probably would say that about every team. It's quite a stretch to go from "we'd answer the phone" to "there's a good chance we'll accept."
He'll be getting "competitive offers" from many teams, one of which will likely be the Chicago Blackhawks. He's from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, just a couple hours away from Chicago. If he can work his way up into the top 4 in Chicago he'd likely have Keith or Seabrook as a D-partner. Not many young defensemen in the Chicago system for him to have to leapfrog.
Just one possibility among many. Playing for a constant contender like Pittsburgh is probably appealing, too, but it's laughable to read too much into the "we'd answer the phone" quote. |

Just read a little piece on Scaramucci - I don't follow US politics very much, is this guy good for the people or a toss pot??
Seems like a very determined individual that doesn't let anything sidetrack success? |
