Ty, when you write about pointe, you seem pro keeping him. I rememeber during the playoffs when i suggested benchjng him as well you mentioned his pp importance. Do you believe that he is actually that much of a catalyst where someone else couldn't be just as effective in that role? And do you think that he is worth keeping for the main reason of being in that role?

I think that he needs to be on the third line to be effective, as the 4th is too grit based and he isn't skilled enough for the second line. But, I don't want him stifling the third line as Hayes did last year and in my opinion made others(Belesky, Nash) look worse.

An involved Spooner is worth having as a third liner as a winger, he just really needs to grow up. If not, it's a year of blocking Czarnik, JFK, Bjork, etc. And potentially ruining Vatrano and company's development.

The other two yes, but I don't see Spooner blocking Bjork at all if he is ready.

Ryan Johansen getting 8 mil for 8 years does not bode well for Pasta negotiations. I think Pastas hit just went up.

No kidding. Stupid preds. Waiting has not been helping. Should have just signed him for 6 for 6 and be done with it.

I can't believe how low that Connor Sheary contract is. Spooner basically got the same money as him. I would have easily taken Sheary at 4 million, and I hate all things Pittsburg. (Mainly because of Crosby and it is where Topanga had to move in Boy Meets World)

I'm so glad that Sweeney is doing soooooooo much to improve this team. Gives us a lot to talk about.

EDIT: This is awesome to read.

Off season. Not much to report. Not even a lick of a rumor about a free agent.

I'm not sure what Sweeneys supposed to do. If Pastas camp won't negotiate, the deal won't get done. I didn't peg Pasta for a greedy player (maybe it's just his agent) but I get the impression we're waiting for the Oilers to wayyyy overpay Draisaitle so he can also cash in. IMO he should just sign a similar deal as Marchand but I have a bad feeling Pastas gonna be around 8 mil
