What team is dumb enough to offer sheet Edmonton with $16,828,000.00 in available cap space? Pretty sure the Vanek and Penner offer sheets were to teams that were vulnerable not quite the position Edmonton is or will ever be in. Cool story though.

If he signs a two year 5.5 or similar and then produces a couple 80 points seasons he would get paid in the 9-10 mil range instead of 7-8

If he signs say 7.5 at 7 now that's 52.5 million. If he takes 5.5 for two years then signs an 8 year 10 million dollar deal in that same 7 years he has made he will have made 61 million in the same number of years

You have to be tough on these little Zorches, and put them in their place, or they'll walk all over you.
