geez, tough crowd. it's a very good deal imo.
buying the best years (26-32) of a solid 2nd pairing dman that was thrust into a #1 role for the SC winning team for $4.1M is really good.
great price for a very underrated dman imo. |

1-1.5 mil too much IMO - Lucas.Neilson
Do you really believe he's only worth 2.6-3 million on a 6 year deal at 25 years old!? Especially after leading the pens in time on ice this season and second the year before that in the playoffs both ending in cup wins!? No chance. A great deal would have been 3.5, average deal at 4, and to much would have been 4.5. This locks him up for pretty much his prime years. |

The on advantage we got with giving him term this year instead of a bridge deal is it makes the decision easier in 2 years. If you have to sign a UFA dman at 27 he's going to try and 6 years. By doing the deal now we make sure non of the years are getting into age related years where decline is more likely.
He does have the potential to get his offensive production up to a Paul Martin level. He's fine in the transition game but doesn't pick up any points. |

Similar deal to Larsson, Ekholm, and Murphy. That's about the going rate for a young #2-#3 shut down defenseman. It was slightly higher given his contribution to 2 Cup championships. This will be a deal in years 3-6 |

He's not just good in his own zone though. He CAN jump up on play, but he's always the safety net. Plus, he moves the puck exceptionally well along with strong skating. Totally worth it. |

You have be moronic to question the Dumoulin deal. He is worth it today. But in years 3 to 6, it would look cheap labour. Brian is only 25 now. So until he gets to 31, he is locked up. Great, great deal. |

Says the guy who signed Hainsey to a $6M contract for 2 years.
Dumoulin is a stud and very underrated. |
