GO LEAFS GO - Zezel
T I T S
why the trade for Andersen would be considered below and A is beyond me.
three important questions for the Leafs fan base at this time of year
1) has Matthews be told not to follow EIchel's fashion choices as of yet?
2) has Eichel signed for more than McDavid?
3) what is the date on which Uncle Lou cuts another 5 or 4 for 1 deal?

The ONLY thing leafs should do is ask JVR if he wants to stay with this dynasty, show him the breakdown of the team (what everyones getting paid).. tell him we can pay him x amount to keep things going or he has to go. Patriots his ass (I forget which GM is savage) if he doesn't accept. |

Yeah the Freddy deal is an A in my books. I have the Phaneuf deal at A++ because we foisted the contract on Ottawa of all teams. |

Oh, yeah, because an expiring cap hit of 2M will surely cripple the Leafs. |

Not a trade, but I enjoyed Lou's move where he sent Lupul to Robidas Island even though the NHL considers him healthy enough to be in the expansion draft. |

Yeah, after he gets sent to the minors it will be a one year cap hit of roughly 1M. We better trade Matthews and Marner now before its too late and we run out of moneyz. |

Trade them before they become a problem. I like your thinking. |

Good idea for a post but it would have benefited from summarizing Lou's overall performance instead of just listing and grading his individual trades. Lou had a reputation as a shrewd trader but these trades are largely meh.
Is Lou's Leafs trade record better, worse or the same as his trade record in New Jersey?
Overall, I think you were too generous with your grades. "A"s should be reserved for team changing trades like Phaneuf's and Andersen's. The other As or A-s should be Bs. Brian Boyle's trade should be an F, a failure.
Next trade is likely to be a C or B at best. |

Pretty hard to compare his body of work in Jersey with two years in Toronto though. |

Polak Winnik deals were pretty great value imo, ditching Phaneuf was pretty good too.. Will probably have to wait on some deals to really assess them. Want to see another year of Anderson before calling that trade a big win. |

Don't know if it is?
Take the last 2 years trades in NJ and compare to first 2 years in Toronto. I think the article could have been much better with some overall comments and analysis. |

The blogs should be titled " talk about whatever the (frank) you want" this time of year.
They don't even try to find something worthwhile and accept total mediocracy. But then again, they aren't professionals. |

It's just such a different situation. Lou doesn't have the full autonomy in Toronto he had in Jersey, and he was there for decades.
I appreciated the blog, I'd forgotten about a lot of those moves. The Leafs have shoveled a lot of poop around in two years. I never should have ordered the Torres and Stalock jerseys... |
