Just my opinion...
Anyone having Drake on the top line is delusional. And Drai still has not shown he can be the man on his own line. I believe Drai will be back on McJesus' wing and Nuge will be line 2 C. So trading him makes no sense to me. That limits the options severely. If you trade Nuge then you are forcing Mc D and Drai as 1 and 2 C because without Nuge there is no other option at 2 C. And if anyone says Strome I'll punch them in the face
This was marginally better than the POS blog you posted on the myhockeybuzz section... |

Aside from the wacky trade proposals (personally I think the current roster trumps the one you are suggesting) you make some points. First off I don't know of anyone suggesting Caggiula should be on a top line, it's true he found himself there for a couple games during the playoffs but long term I can't imagine McLellan wanting him there.
Most likely I think we will see Draisaitl on the top RW spot with Nuge as the 2nd line centre. Based on Chiarelli's comments I think we will see Strome start the year at centre on the third line. Depending how the year goes I think we will see Strome, Puljujarvi, and Slepeshev end up in the 2RW position. |

Can the pens fit RNH? just spit balling here but Sheary matta 1st and get you RNH? Probably not? Doughty for Draisaitl ? He has only two years! But boy that could be two cups! montreal is in need of a center! RNH for gally++? Going with the three deep centers is a great thing to have! But trading for a less expensive suitable center plus a pick /prospect? Or a getting a couple of peices that either Draisaitl.. or preferably! RNH could obtain, and possibly creating a new wealth of team/organizational depth |

Well put together blog if a bit melodramatic on the title/concept.
I did enjoy not hearing about how Russell sucks and the Hall trade killed the team for once.
However I pretty much disagree with everything you suggest and your cap estimates seem a bit more generous than when I did the math on cap friendly.
The roster we have is only slightly worse than last year and not worth dismantling for some over the hill bums like you suggest.
I know Nuge has struggled but I personally don't want to trade away Nuge yet, or at all if possible, if the return is spare parts. Nuge is overpaid yes but also still young and IMO has far more of an impact than a Maroon type. He may well have to be traded for cap compliance but I think that will be a dead last in case of emergency option.
If Nuge is traded I think we already have his possible replacement with Strome here as well. Chiarelli sees him as a center.
Everyone wanted someone better than Russel but we have "just" enough depth with what Chiarelli has done to survive until Sekera comes back. Yohann Auvitu and Eric Gryba are solid depth guys and Nurse and Benning will hopefully take another step to further lessen the impact of Sekera. Once Sekera is back we most likely have a better D if for no other reason than player development. |

Chiarelli only has to add a few players and the Oil will be in the conference final. Overall he has done a pretty good job in EDM. Oil were jobbed by Gary's refs this year and should have been in the conference final anyways. |

Nah. I disagree with a lot of what this guy says but he's a long way from being as pitifully moronic as hallfag. |

Cagguila played with McDavid a few times last season and they had chemistry together. If you look at the Oilers current roster, there is no obvious choice for a RW on the McDavid line. Draisaitl will be playing at center this season. |
