I like the Henrique for Vatanen idea. This also assumes we don't intend to use Henrique at wing, or he wouldn't be great for us at wing.. or that he's simply the best asset that we have that we'd be most willing to part with.

Trade Henrique, acquire a ...3#? dman in Vatanen (is he a #3?), and sign Jagr. poof.

Forget the defense right now. Trade Henrique+ for Neiderreiter. Or, maybe Calgary would have interest. Bring back Rasmus Andersson + a pick or two.

Then tank for Dahlin. #TheRightWay.

I would rather keep Rico, why not Zajac - Montreal seems to need an upgrade at Center? Anything there?

I'd much rather move Zajac than Henrique.

When the offense stunk we traded Larsson for Hall. Now the defense stinks and we want to trade Henrique for Vatanen. Obviously Rico isn't Hall and Vats isn't Larsson, but these moves are making me wonder how much progress we are really making...

I think the best case scenario for this team is to try and get a decent defender in from a team looking to dump salary. Or we can sign Stevens to be an old school coach - player. He's probably still better then half our guys....

Todd How do you feel about picking up some guys from HC Dynamo Moskva
ALEXEI MAKLYUKOV is a free agent now so is ARTYOM VOLKOV and DMITRI VISHNEVSKY I'm not saying they are the answeres to our prayers but in my opinion you can never have enough defenders.

Zajac makes too much to trade to Ducks. Ducks like to stay under the cap.

Need a D man .

Need a RW.

Kovi wanted to go to th RANGERS> so fuk him let him go back to russia. Good call from RAY not trading rights to NY .

Tallon is trying to trade Demers. I think he could be a good add for cheap.

Someone mentioned Muzzin and Gaborik for Q + before, that would make sense too.

I have to agree with you here. Our forward group is looking pretty good, and to think of a trade to move one of the core guys out it just makes no sense. If Rico, or Zajac get traded then the Johannson trade takes a hit, as we are kinda of back where we were before his trade. I say Patience again and lets wait a team out that has cap issues. The offense looks alot better no need to mess it up without knowing what Zacha/wood/ JQ do with a full year under their belts.

I rather not trade Henrique. Not yet at least. Right now are top 6 is looking pretty decent for the first time in a while. Hopefully Ray can pull more of his houdini trades to acquire a defenseman with just draft picks. Maybe take on a salary dump.

Otherwise I say just ride out one more season and get another good draft pick.

Super stoked to see Boyle will be in NJ next season. I'm a fan of him and glad he went to a team I like.

I'm also glad the Devils didn't bring Kovalchuk back. Not sure how you guys feel, but as an outsider, I never liked what he did and who is to say he wouldn't do it again? I know he's talented, but if I'm a GM, I'd be hesitant to sign him.

I would't have minded him back on the team because he's just that damn good and worth letting bygones be bygones. However if it came down to trading him to the Rangers then let him stay in Russia another year.

It wasn't the Devils that made the decision to not have him back. He never intended to come back. It was likely just a ruse to squeeze a few more Rubles from some KHL team.

Haha. Sure, I can see that.

It would have been nice to move him and get a hefty return, though.

Honestly, I thought he might be heading to the Blue Jackets and the hawks were rumored to be possibly moving Anisimov to Columbus, too. I thought the Jackets were looking to build a Russian super line (of sorts) with Panarin-AA-Kovalchuk.

I was surprised on the Camalleri and Smith-P buyouts. Were they just not producing? I know Camalleri is older, but I thought SP was sought after--unless he regressed.

Unreal if that's the case, man.

Who's going to give a "hefty return" for a guy who already quit on his team once?

Jagr I think will go to Vegas when they've unloaded some of their D, maybe Markov as well.

I wouldn't mind picking up Markov for a season but I think he's looking for two years, which Montreal wasn't willing to give him. Markov, however, is a #2 D right now and his play last year hasn't put it to doubt... only problem with him is that he's not a fast skater.

Anaheim's cupboards are shut tight right now. They didn't like what they were getting offered and sealed things up.

Still fluid, though, are the Vegas Knights and the Colorado Avalanche. Not that I love Tyson Barrie, but he's essentially Shattenkirk minus a few years: I think Shero might give that situation a good look if he's not already looking at Galchenyuk. Given how tightly Sakic is holding his cards and how inactive the Vegas front has been, not much likely to happen...

something still looks off... like there are chess games going on that are in stalemate.

I think a lot of teams would.

I don't agree with it, but I bet teams would--never underestimate what some GM's will do.

Another thing: if Kovy told the Devils he wanted to go to the Rangers, he's an idiot. That's like a Montague asking his family to marry a Capulet...

Todd, with Vegas acquiring a bunch of extra defensemen would any of these guys be available and what would the return have to be.

Montagues and Capulets?!

I'll respectfully ask you to keep your high falutin' analogies off this hockey board, sir.

Losing Cammy was disappointing to me, but seems like it was a move to give the younger guys more of a look. He was producing when healthy, but wasn't staying healthy. Still don't like it though. DSP I'm more than ok with losing

Our forward group is looking not too bad. If nothing changes you figure there are six spots for the established guys:

Hall, Palmieri, Zajac, Henrique, Johansson, & Boyle

All those guys are legitimate NHL players. And then six spots for all the young/unestablished guys to fight over.

Hischier, Zacha, Wood, McLeod, Quenneville, Noesen, Blandisi, Lappin, Coleman, Speers...

If nothing changes I like the idea of spreading out the established guys in the lineup. Maybe something like:

Hall - Hischier - Palmieri
Zacha - Zajac - Johansson
Wood - Henrique - McLeod
Blandisi - Boyle - Noesen

Maybe it's presumptuous to put Nico on the first line, I think of it less as "he's our first line center" and more as "I think he'd play well with Hall and Palmieri." Either way I don't hate this forward group. That D on the other hand...
