Carol Schram: A look at Vancouver Canucks second-round picks Kole Lind & Jonah Gadjovich The NHL's free-agency discussion window is opening as the Vancouver Canucks are earning praise for their second-round draft picks Kole Lind and Jonah Gadjovich.

Thanks Carol.
These 2 picks more than made up for the disappointment I felt after the 1st round pick. Looking forward to the young stars camp.
I was a little surprised that they never chose another centre in 2nd round.

Kole Lind was a steal in the 2nd round! Led a very good Rocket team in scoring, he's only going to get better! Congrats!

"Last year, the Canucks signed top-tier UFA Loui Eriksson on July 1. They also inked forwards Jayson Megna, Michael Chaput and Borna Rendulic, as well as bringing defensemen Philip Larsen and Chad Billins back from Europe"

So, the bar literally couldn't be set any lower this summer.

From the last blog...

I think once you have Oj, boeser, Jv, pettersson, dahlen, etc on the team and you start to see where they should or could fit in then you get excited ...or depressed ...but at least then you know

Oh and demko ...he is still the biggest key to all this ...if he can become a stud then it might not matter if you have a Crosby or karlsson

Breaking it down this way into the key core of the kids gives better perspective.
Adding the vets & support group is where our fate lies IMO.

Can the D corps supply a PP QB & the offence we woefully lack?
Will the rest of the forwards be fast & puck doggers?
Sufficient grit & forechecking to make us complete?

Top prospects will be fine but in my estimation the rest will determine how good we can be in 3-5yrs. Albeit more prospects will be drafted & cap space is looking good now & later. If all goes well we can look to sign 1 very good UFA in a few years.

Never liked the term BPA since its so subjective to who's list is used.
That said BPA as a general term is fine.
By that i use position more than the name as BPA.
Next draft i am fairly certain BPA & need will be 1 & the same....D
Some may wish for a C but leave that for later rounds.
In the meantime how next season plays out &/if JB is resigned will be a more important focus on where we r going & we fasttrak our rebuild from within.

Dahlin it is then.

In 12 years Vantel will be mumbling through his porridge to trade the Swedes.

Seems more likely to land in Dallas than Vancouver. RHS d-man, which they need, and has prior ties to the club. Media in Dallas appear to see him returning as least a possibility.

Best player available is often just that. You don't draft for positional need unless the players are considered equal.

However, you can assume that most NHL draft boards have a score assigned to each and every prospect much like NFL draft boards do. It's just good business.

TG alone can be the biggest factor taking the kids to levels we wish for.
His personality i luv & if he is as good as i believe he is i then expect some surprises.
Having offense he has not had before to utilize will base my opinion on him.
By that i mean team offense & systems will see a marked improvement as the next season plays out. The PP will say much to us rather than WD & his definition of insanity PP theory.

I agree but what is considered equal or close to it is more of a consensus.
My view is consensus muddies the waters at times.
Visionaries & risk takers is more to my liking.
That does not mean off the board picks either.
Pettersson is my example & those falling in luv with a Glass is not.
I to did like Glass but it did not happen.
