As I said on Twitter, Button is the same guy that chose Gazdic from NJ's roster in a mock expansion draft. I wouldn't be referencing his ability to rate players as an argument for Nico.

I can't imagine that would impact their decision making process. You're assuming each are homerun, stud prospects. And if that's the case then I'm sure they'll sign for that now and cross that bridge when needed.

Rookie D man having confidence issues under PDB..... I know that has been said but Todd's analysis is strikingly similar to what would have been Larsson's a few seasons ago. All we can do is hope for the best, he's our boy now.

Could easily be done for 1 or 2. Offer the 6th pick, agree to take ANYONE, even a terrible contract from that team, and offer almost any 2-3 players left unprotected across the league.

They also will have other picks available but I think they should go into the draft with anywhere between 12-18 picks as this is the only way to get some great players under 21.

Who else you taking from NJ available players? At least with Gazdic you only have to deal with him for a week and then he is gone forever.

If I'm philly I'm only trading #2 for #6, unprotected Vegas 1st next year, and a solid prospect/mid round 1st for this year. Vegas would be foolish to do that, so I doubt they're moving into the top 2 (I expect NJ would want the same, if not a better package). Both NJ & Philly need a future #1c and one just potentially landed in their laps, no reason to make a move.

You a Sixers fan? I don't think there are "protected" and "unprotected" picks in the NHL like there are in the NBA. There are conditional picks, but not lottery protected ones to my knowledge.

What I meant by that is Vegas saying "have our first, but if we win the lottery (in the top 3), it shifts to the 19 draft" which I believe has happened with 1st round exchanges in hockey before. Don't follow basketball at all, but would be a Knicks fan if I did haha.

Lottery protection is quite often the "conditional" part of the trade. Like a 2018 "lottery protected" pick from Vegas would be a 2019 1st rounder if Vegas misses the playoffs.

Looks like Vegas is going to be taking a lot of defenseman and will be looking to move some wonder if shero could make a trade happen we will see soon enough I guess

If Philly does this they will get something better so that would be worse.

Button definitely put a different lens on how GM may approach the expansion draft - managing the number of contracts. He was likely over emphasizing this fact for tsn to give viewers an alternate view. Interesting none the less.

Darn our first was a bust, but it feels better because the guy we didn't pick is kicking ass with Vegas instead of Philly...
