Carol Schram: Salary cap set, Looking at Vancouver Canucks options at No. 5 in the draft The 2017-18 NHL salary cap is set at $75 million, George McPhee says he's going to lock down his trades for the Vegas Golden Knights by the end of Monday, and a closer look at who the Canucks should pick from the top 10 prospects in the NHL draft.

That's an increase of $2 million from last season. It gives teams that are tight to the cap a little bit of breathing room, but not much.

Excellent , now we can sign miller 4x6

If the Sedins approve

Thanks Carol!

Really interested in Vilardi, wishing he might fall to us but that seems like a bit of a pipe dream right now. I feel like Glass would excite people almost as much though, so no big loss if that's who we end up with.

The Arizona Coyotes are parting ways with long time captain Shane Doan. The club informed him over the weekend. (con't)

That two million is a nice buffer, hopefully we won't spend to the cap and save some for Turris

Ottawa is going to sign Turris. There's not a single chance we don't. He loves Ottawa and is finally starting to see some light from Ottawas long haggard rebuild. Why in the world does he want be a cog in your even worse rebuild?

Thanks Carol, another great blog.

I think most of us here will be pretty happy with either Vilardi or Glass.

Please, no Miller. Let's start moving on. Wouldn't mind Pickard if we could strike some kind of fair deal with Vegas/Avalanche.
Hope we keep lots of cap space for next few seasons, for some potential cap dump trades.

Expecting some pain for 2 more seasons before this team starts seeing the results of this transitional period. I am ok with that.

Turris is a nice Idea.
Can't see Ottawa letting him go, especially if they lose bobby ryan for nothing to vegas.

Thanks. I like Pickard too, after covering him at World Championships for two years. I thought Colorado would protect him.

I've said all along if all the top Cs are taken before we pick, we get a good D. If one or two D get snapped up, then we land a solid C. Win win.

You forgot the 3 way trade with FLA and VGN where we pick up Lou and put him on LTIR in a year.
