Got a feeling it's going to be Merrill.

I actually think it could end up being Cammalleri. While he struggles to stay healthy, it's probably a safe bet that Vegas will need goalscoring. He can still bring that to the table.

Kinkaid is a good option but there are SO MANY opportunities for goalies out there that I agree, the Knights aren't going to take him.

I obviously don't know the team as well, but I could see Cammalleri being the target. 2 years left on a contract that's not outrageous. He'll definitely have some value when the trade deadline comes around. If not this season, then the following. I think taking a risk there is worth it.

Literally just spit-balling here, if the Devils are high on one of the D prospects in this draft what would people think of trading the 1st overall plus maybe a later pick to Colorado for 4th overall and one of their young core guys (Duchene/MacKinnon/Landeskog)? Could be an interesting idea if Colorado is looking to ship out one of their core guys and replace them with Nico/Nolan.

I think it's cammi, for cap reasons, goals, and a name.

I'm very much against trading the 1st overall simply on principal. It was a gift from the Hockey Gods and we should simply be thankful and enjoy.

That said, I actually like what you came up with . Getting a legit quality NHL forward and a high end prospect would be somewhat enticing. Especially if the Devils could work Tyson Barrie into the deal. For a first overall I feel like you have someone needs to totally overpay.

Just No you don't trade the first overall pick having a young player locked up for years with a low cap hit is key to winning and we aren't in win now mode we might be a bubble team this year but we have plenty of time to add some help on the backend I'm sure there will be a draft day trade like there has been every year with Shero but it will not be for the #1 pick

opposing goaltenders stopped 94.3% of the 5v5 shots while he was on the ice, which is unsustainably high.

Or he might have a substandard NHL shot that isn't a scoring threat... or he can't get to high scoring areas/he doesn't take many shots from high scoring areas.

GMGM could have deals in place to protect some of the obviously much better d-men available, so it could be Merrill, but I still doubt it.

The forwards pool on most teams is not good while Noesen and BB are semi-attractive options. I think it'll be Noesen.

There's a lot of love on this forum for d-men who can't actually play D.

Unless there is a young, established Dman, under contract coming back I really don't want to see them move the 1st overall.

Colorado probably is looking to draft Hieskanen at 4.

I'm actually one of those dinosaurs who still want defenseman who can play defense. And if they can punish the crap out of the other team the better.

I just mentioned Barrie because he could be a decent puck mover for all the folks who belly ache we don't have any puck moving defenders.

I had no idea we still owned the rights to Alex Urbom. That was a project Lou really didn't want to give up on.

Yeah the thought process would be that Hischier/Patrick aren't McDavid/Eichel, and if people in the Devils scouting staff feel like a D-man who'd they could get at no. 4 could end up being of equal or possibly even greater value down the road than Hischier/Patrick, if you make that trade and add a very good young player from the Avs, it's a great trade.

In a world where the Avs may be really desperate to shake it up, if they were to legitimately offer MacKinnon + #4 for #1 (and maybe a later pick), I'm not sure you can turn that down. Again you aren't passing up the opportunity to draft McDavid here. I doubt the Avs would offer that, but if they were to...

I've even read some things online (I don't buy this) that the Devils would actually prefer Heiskanen over Hischier or Patrick. IMO if that's the case you have to trade down and add another piece, as opposed to taking Heiskanen #1.

I don't think this will actually happen, it's just the one even remotely realistic scenario where I could see the Devils moving #1.

You realize that good at hockey means good behind your blue line, too, right? Not just lining up there when there's a faceoff?

If Barrie and Shattenkirk were in my division, I'd laugh my head off. January defensemen. Put these guys with Severson and let's just put three forwards back there... we'll push a record for historically worst GA and most demoralizing D corps in history.

I think Vegas will give NJ a draft pick to be able to not pick anyone in expansion.

Most Avs would offer to move up is a 2nd round pick.

He's got a 50/50 shot on being right on who we draft, but Gazdic? How did he come up with that?
