My source says Housley does not live in 89's world, or in Gerbe's.

The only concern I have about Housley is his lack of pro coaching experience at any level. His first season coaching other than high school was in 2013 with the US World Junior team, which he completed admirably. After that, he has only been an assistant coach in the NHL for 4 seasons. That's not a lot of time spent learning the craft. I like the hire, but if it does not work out, the experience factor will probably be the reason.

I have that concern as well..

“He brings such a different element to coaching because of the player he was” “He sees the game unlike probably anyone else who’s ever played the game.” “When he talks, all that matters to me is what is coming out of his mouth.” - PK Subban

Repost from last blog i know. But a guy like PK saying things like that, has me confident.

NHL assistant = pro

(I know, semantics.)

Nothing wrong with Capuano. He had the Islanders playing some great hockey for a few years. I'd welcome him as an assistant.

Assistant coach for Preds for 3 years as well as assistant for 16 WCH and 11, 13, 14 World Championships which all are pros. I forgot Tampa shouldn't have hired Cooper based on his lack of experience.

Point being, he's only been around the pro level for 4 years, which isn't very long. I'm not suggesting definitely passing him over because of this, but it is something to be wary of.

No shortage of praise for him as an assistant coach. But he will be starting his head coaching career this year in Buffalo. Time will tell if hes cut out for it

Life threatening buses travel up and down the major thoroughfares of nearly every city in the nation, and yet we all get out of bed in the morning.
