Well guys looks like I have a new favorite hockey player and his name is Jake Guentzel. I can only hope that if I was a Stanley Cup champion, I'd be walking around the parade signing cans of Natty Ice and ordering people to chug them.
Also, I don't care what anyone says. Brian Dumoulin, Justin Schultz, and Olli Maatta are an elite core... for a beer olympics team. |

They're young and they're celebrating back to back championships. Let 'em play. They're back on the ice in like two weeks. |

Ehhh, he's a kid celebrating after a long season and a lot of hard work. Unless he's doing something criminal or out of bounds, I don't think we're worthy to judge him.
On a side note, how did I just notice that Murray's number is the next number in sequence after Fleury's number?? |

Happy to see everyone celebrating. The city is getting good at this parade thing!
I don't think I've come across one picture of Crosby drinking a beer... I expect he starts training for next season today and wanted to be fresh for it! |

This is roughly what the team looks like right now assuming Fleury to Vegas.
I added Sundqvist and Pouliot because they have to clear waivers. Kuhnhackl and Archibald both have to clear waivers as well and I see them battling for the 13th spot. If another wing is added, neither one may make the team. That's part of the cost of bringing back Kunitz or a prospect like Sprong or Ashton-Reese making the team. But depth chart at forward is already 13 deep at least with guys we may not want to put on waivers.
I did not add Jarry yet. He may be the backup, but could also see Rutherford signing a vet backup and preserving depth giving the team 2 options if Murray goes down.
Signed Shultz at 4.5M, Dumoulin at 4M, and Sheary at 3.5M. Numbers may vary. This roster costs 67.3M. Could have anywhwre from 5.7M to 9.7M for a 3C, defenseman, and a backup goalie,, and buffer space. I'd guess about the middle.
Guentzel-Crosby-Sheary
Rust-Malkin-Kessel
Hagelin-???-Hornqvist
Wilson-Sundqvist-Rowney
Kuhnhackl/Archibald
Dumoulin-Letang
Maatta-Schultz
Cole-???
Pouliot

I'm going to be pissed him Dumolin makes 4M.
3.25 at the most. Marc-Edward Vlasic is a MUCH better version of Brian Dumoulin and his first contract as an RDA was 3.10M for 3 years.
I'm hoping Schultz is closer to 4mil, and Sheary from 2.75-3mil. Palat & Johnson in Tampa for 3yr/3.33mil on their first contract after their ELCs. I would aim for something similar to that for Sheary, hopefully. |

The parade yesterday was hot as balls. I got a glorious nap afterwards though, so that was nice.
I think Rowney ends up fighting with Sundquist and someone else that isn't yet on the roster over for the 3 and 4 C spots. |

Yeah I dont see Dums getting much more than 3...probably a 2 year bridge deal around 3. Schultz will be around 5 I imagine though Im hoping for around 4.5 at most. Sheary will get something similar to those Dupuis and Kunitz (Crosby's wingers when they signed) contracts but lower because he is RFA... I'm thinking low 3's for two years.
Im wondering who the Pens numbers guy is now for all of these issues coming up now that Botterill is gone...hoping they dont mess sh!t up... |

Graovac was traded Wednesday from Wild to Caps. The 24-year-old forward dressed for 52 contests with the Wild last season, notching nine points (seven goals, two assists). The big-bodied forward also supplied 54 hits over that span while averaging 9:50 of ice time. Graovac figures to provide the Capitals with a physical presence. He has a history of some offensive success at the AHL level.
Looks like Caps are sticking with the big physical players. Hopefully, the NHL either enforces the rules or changes the rules to reduce the hits to the head and allows skill to be the primary attraction to the sport. If this happened, I believe the Caps would end up Closer to the middle of the standings! |
