Michael Pachla: Kane still in the mill. Will Boogieman in FLA = Housley in Buffalo? Plus... Late next week we should see movement on the Sabres coaching search and some Las Vegas Golden Knights trades.

Everyone thinks that Botterill is ready to move him, it's comical.

You trade Kane and get a D man and we are still in the same situation we are in now, it doesn't make us any better. The team is still weak and will get weaker trading him, you keep him and add to the roster and there are ways to do that. Now if Kane does want out ( and I was told a while back he doesn't) then you move him. Moving him still doesn't make sense.

What's with Eberle on the "chart", Sabres leading the pack? Shouldn't get a ton back for the combo of salary and recent production, but the question is, are we interested and if so at what cost?

Only thoughts I have read around Eberle and the Sabres would be to fill the void left by a Kane trade and that it would be Bogosian heading to the Oilers, due to each team's needs and comparable cap hits for each player. I don't mind that if Kane is traded for a better blue liner than Bogosian, but I think Housley could do some good things with him (IF Housley becomes the new coach). My money is on Tocchet, all of these pro sports guys tend to hire who they know best... Not saying I don't understand that, just is what it is. Exception being Murray, he knew Babcock and Babcock used that to his advantage while leveraging it with the Leafs.

I am more intrigued with Sabres listed 2nd for Fowler... If Botterill was able to bring in Fowler and Eberle, while sending out Kane and Bogosian (I am sure other parts would be moving, as well)... Then I would consider that a very good start!

I would love to see Housley or Tocchet behind the bench. Preferably Houdley but Toccet would be a fantastic consolation prize

If you give Kane the long term deal he will inevitably want, then you are stuck with Okposo and Kane locked long term, which makes your wingers on both sides far short of a championship caliber one with little flexibility in order to upgrade it. And you have even less cap space to upgrade the tire fire that is this team's defense corps in its current state. And that assumes you figure out a way to get out from under Moulson's contract.

Pittsburgh is an obvious one. Chicago's forward corps is still championship caliber. It was their defense that got eaten alive in the playoffs. Nashville's has surprised me, even with Johansen (I know he's a center), although we have seen them run incredibly hot and cold. I also believe that Tampa Bay's is as well, but they need to figure out a way to stay healthy. Buffalo needs to get in that conversation at least, and they aren't with Okposo and Kane as their main guys. They also are behind San Jose, even at their high age, but I don't see that happening for much longer because of said age.

I'd trade Bogo and a 2nd for Eberle and keep Kane if this were the case.

i'll give you Chicago because of kane and hossa...when chris kunitz was traded for, I highly doubt anyone called him a championship winger...rookie jake guentzel is having a helluva season and they have a bunch of nobody's other than phil kessel...he was considered an excellent scorer but the words 'championship' and 'kessel' together were never taken seriously...

that's a start...what other names can you put into the conversation?
